Has anyone tried a modern Sigma DC on the NEX, e.g with a Canon mount/adapter? DC is their line for APS-C cameras. I was thoroughly impressed by their 8-16 extreme WA zoom when I had it for the cropped Canon 7D, but sold it when I moved over to FF. Since I think WA options are lacking for the 5N it could be something. It's really sharp all across the range despite being a zoom .
Might be a silly question but has anyone tried any of the contax G lenses with tubes on the NEX? I know dedicated macros are best but I was just wondering how good the 45/2 and 90/2.8 would be up close with tubes (especially since the MFD isn't that great for RF lenses) or even at MFD on their own.

the 45/2 is still very good at it's mfd of about .35m. i would imagine it will lose a bit in the corners but still be very good on a tube. the 35/2 is much better at infinity than it is at mfd, stopped down to f/8 or f/11 i'm sure it would still be ok on tubes though.
Sweet... I wasn't really considering the 35mm but the 45/2 is probably my first lens and your experience is just what I was hoping for. Does anyone have any experience with the 90/2.8 on tubes? Also, has anyone made a contax G adapter that doesn't stick all the time? That seems to be the number one complaint I'm hearing and if there is a brand that performs better than others, I'm all ears
I think some on here said the Kipon adapter for G lenses were the best. Should be in one of the threads on Contax G. The adapter that came with mine( does not have a name) sticks a little but nothing so bad that it gives me fits. Not smooth by any means but not that bad either. I only have the 45/2 but plan on getting the 90 soon.

I've had a love hate relationship with the Contax G adapters over the past year or so. Ultimately, I'm fine with it on my Contax G 90, since I don't use it often, but I've moved to M lenses for my most used focal lengths. The Hawks Helicoid adapter allows me to focus down to around .35M with my various 35mm lenses, which is about twice as close as normal.
Here are a couple of images for comparison. Nex 5N. The first was taken with the CV 15mm and the second with the Zeiss ZF 21mm. I walked closer when using the 15 to try and keep the size roughly the same. Both have only default sharpening applied in Lightroom, have been slightly cropped, and had no other processing. Both were taken at f/8.
I find it difficult to tell if I am focussing the CV 15 correctly or not. Peaking says that basically everything is in focus when using this lens. Even when magnified, I have trouble. For some reason, unknown to me, it is much easier to tell when the Zeiss 21 is in focus. Yes, the Zeiss is awfully big on the NEX, but it surely is a wonderful lens.

Mild PP aside, I have never seen such contrast at 1.2 from any lens. A bit glowly as well. Rich character to my eye.
all shot with my ancient nex-5. 5n should be here tomorrow
Yes, it's a loaded pepsi can, but frankly I had braced myself so hard for that, it seemed small. It IS alot thiner than the 50/1.1, but slightly longer, 24 g heavier.
Can't wait to try some portraits This one was 850 shipped--the most expensive lens I've ever bought. To hell with that friggin zeiss 24

Still very impressed by the high ISO capabilities of the 5N. Here are some shots at 3200.
It's pretty good at 3200 isn't it. Here's one from this morning at 3200 with my default sharpening (40,1.0,50,20) and noise reduction (25,50,50,25,50) applied in LR.

Why a superspeed 35? DOF baby. Unbelievable DOF at 1.2 Yes, thin DOF can be sweet of course, but ALL superspeeds do that----I've never seen one like this. The Pen has some too, but not this much.

Congrats on the new lens. It's a tempting one to own for sure. The DOF looks very user friendly. Should be twice as fun to use on the 5N
I haven't seen any knock my socks off results posted from the Zeiss 24 (yet)... but a fast 24 is a nice lens to have on a crop body... My wife uses a 24L mk2 on her Rebel and it's very usable wide open; lots of DOF from normal working distances. That is probably the reason I won't end up buying the Zeiss 24.
