Are you happy with the image quality from Hasselblad Planar 110mm f2? I used some Hasselblad (Zeiss) lenses on my Nikon D700 before and I didn't fine them to be special for the Nikon sensor.
I'm very happy, the only negative being the size of the lens on the NEX. I haven't tried any other Hasselblad lenses, nor any Nikon cameras, so I really can't comment on your setup. I can't imagine a better 100ish lens though. The Hasselblad 110 also focuses really close, and has amazing depth and bokeh.

briantho: Thanks very much. It's good to know that Hasselblad Planar 110mm f2 performs well in NEX 5N.
uhoh7, you have some nice photos there. After trying many FD lensen, I only kept 3, 85mm f1.2L, 35mm f2 SSC concave, and the 24mm f2. I would probobly also buy the 50mm f1.2 L or 55mm f1.2 SSC Asph, and maybe the 135mm f2 if I got them cheap.

Z series lenses are good travel companions for the NEX.Not too big IMO - hold the lens firmly and the balance will be just right.
These are lovely images that are unfortunately somewhat ruined by your watermark. I am sure nobody here will steal your images, but if you really must watermark, how about something a little more, you know, in the corner?
I don't suspect any of Alt members to steal anyone's pictures, but there are others who may do it.I had some bad experience of such behaviour in the past. That's why my pictures posted anywhere are small and have watermarks right in the middle.
Peire: Awesome shots!!! I am personally not that bothered about the watermark, though I can relate to the distraction others experience.. Having said that, it's not nice to have one's images stolen...
Anyway, you and Philipe make me consider acquiring a NEX now!!..
I can recommend you the NEX wholeheartedly.3 or 5,old or new (not much difference in IQ IMO).Such a nice little friend you can take everywhere and attach almost any lens you fancy. And it delivers high quality images for low cost in a solid body with excellent LCD.
I got three NEX bodies now and don't think it's too much. This year for the first time in my life I did not take FF SLR for a trip abroad.Just 3 NEX bodies and 5 ZF lenses (could take C/Y instead but chose ZF for marginally better overall IQ).
So Dimitri, don't wait too long and let yourself get into the realm of NEX with it's world of unlimited lens possibilities
BTW - I just received MD to NEX adapter and tried my first ever Minolta - an MD 50/1.7.Looks very promising.Prakticars 28/2.8 and 135/2.8 plus Pentax 50/1.7 on the way.And it's all thanks to the NEX

I just picked up a copy of the FD 24 f/2.8 from KEH and it looks nearly new. Liking it so far on the NEX.

Jacob, you might just want to bite the bullet and get the best at 20

That's the nFD 20/2.8 and no RF lens will touch it on a digital sensor---well maybe one of those lecias on an M9.
I would try to check samples from 5n and cv 21. May it can get this sharp on the sides, but I doubt it. The CV centers are close enough. I doubt there is 20 made today better than this. Incredible coatings. Its fast too and can shoot indoors.
Not small, but not really heavy either. 305 grams. Close focus. etc.
I overpaid at 220USD.

The ZM is potenially sharper, but on the nex sensor, no way. This thing will kill it edge to edge. I could be wrong, but not likely. ...Show more →
The Canon FD 24's are surely nice... but much bigger than anything I want to put on the NEX... maybe I should pick one up for my 5D Well, I do have the 24L mk2 but my wife mostly bogarts it for her crop frame.
I have picked up the CV 35/2.5 today... now I need to go out and find some things to shoot. Quick tests around the house seem to indicate it's indeed a sharp little lens, nice colors to boot. I've gotta do some homework on Cornerfix as the edges do have some purple cast with the 5N. I didn't notice it in some casual shots, but after shooting neutral colored wall it becomes obvious.
I guess I should post a photo to keep on topic... Here's a quick snapshot of my 'pops I took the other night to show him the camera's low light capability. 5N + Nokton 40, wide open. ISO 3200 pushed to 6400 in LR.
Nice #1 michael, where's that? In northern Europe (here) there's no sign of that yet although Im sure it'll turn up...
At lunch today I had the Contax G 90/2.8 Sonnar mounted wide open. I found out that I have to leave the A setting and move to S to set time to max 1/100 even with F/2.8. Otherwise the NEX will give me 1/60 and that will almost certain produce a blurry image with 90mm focal length. It's a better choice to have ISO lifted a bit, here 200.
With that finally understood shots started to come out with good sharpness. If one for a moment disregards the sad subject the lens performance is quite impressive - as the other G's. First the full image and then a 100% crop.

I understand - I didn't want to diminish what I thought were nice images regardless of the watermark!

I have found that this is a good trick if you want to change the shutter speed where AUTO ISO kicks in, just go to S and pick what you want, and just adjust your aperture accordingly. It's annoying that you can't pick it yourself in the menus, but this workaround is enough for me.
Also, what's up with only being able to bracket three shots at 0.7 EV?

Hm, I'm having also the problem that I am so concentrated to focus the damn thing that I forget to check the exposure timem and often get slow times. You have a good idea here, I'll try that out.

I'm not fond of watermarks either as it's ruins the image, as well as smallish images makes it hard to get an idea about the performance of the lens. With this I'm not saying that the images arent good, but as the most skilled photographers (that I have identified here) can do without I see no reason to deteriorate images with that. But we're probably hanging here for different purposes, so these are just my small %.

Yeah, isnt that frustrating. Menu system is not made for us that love to micromanage. Worse still, the default value is 0.3 I believe . Strangely enough the 7 seem to share almost all the dummies that comes with the 5N (and predecessors)

I live in New England, winter has come early here.

That's what I do, as the light starts to drop, I switch to S and pick a SS that I know I can hand-hold comfortably (all with auto-ISO). I use auto-ISO 90% of the time on the NEX and its a God-send.
