I think Sean's comments are interesting. Personally, I've found F 5.6 to be kind of a sweet spot on APS-C sensors and with my NEX 5 EVF, focus peaking and magnified view, I haven't felt that I needed to open up the lens to get accurate focus as he suggests.

OTOH, 35 mm is currently my widest range finder lens and it's possible if I was

Agreed, I really haven't seen the need to stop down meter at any aperture. I always shoot at working aperture.

I totally agree with you about the Leica R 60mm Macro. I should add one more lens for you to consider - Leica 180/3.4 APO.

Cheers,

Ah, that old stablemate of mine. The Leica 180/3.4 is very nice too.

My Leica R trinity was 28/2.8 (latest) 60/2.8 (from '74 I think) and the R APO-telyt 180/3.4.

Here are a few quick ones from the 5N + Nokton 40/1.4

I like this lens pretty well so far. It's a little longer than I prefer but I'm biding my time until I decide what I'm going to pick up in the 24-28mm range.

sebboh; that is just about the best Rokkor 58/1.2 bokeh I've seen. I am no fan of "the swirl" but that is just awesome.

thanks both of you.

the swirl is mostly only present when other lenses would fall flat as well, just for different reasons (busy backgrounds with a short subject to background distance). i'm much less sensitive to it than most though.

Thanks! I was really surprised with how sharp that one came out, since I've otherwise had a very hard time getting that kind of critical sharpness with the 5N. The 3D pop is nice, too.

Here it is in color:

Well my Pen-F collection just grew unexpectedly:

take a look:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120797480300&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:US:1123

now I just have to find a 60/1.5 and I'm done! (i have the 25/2.8 and 42/1.2)

there really are still deals to be had at the evil place. Especially this time of year.

a few shots:

Nikkor 28/2 AI @f/2 I had this lens CLA'd by Nikon Pete Smith in Feb. Sadly he recently died. "Don't ever sell it" he told me over the phone "just leave to me" TY Pete RIP

I just had a chance to shoot with my 28mm lens and I can not believe how good it is!
Out of this world resolution and a very specific look. Absolutely amazing.
Can not show anything, but will shoot with lens again asap, will post some here.

As far as 180 goes, never had a chance to shoot with it, but I feel
Voightlander 180 APO might be better, just saying

Lunchbreak today, first real shots with the Contax G 45/2. No particular artistic values, but at least a first chance to check some of its characteristics (all wide open F/2).

Ha, that was fake snow on the cars, right?
Don't eat lunch at Sibylla. Your body will regret it.

snowboarder: yup, that Leica R28 is quite a lens, glad you enjoy it! Then you can appreciate my teeth grinding after losing all my 16GB worth of hiking photos from my last Banff/Jasper trip. 90% with the Leica lens. Still hurts. I'm ok... sob... I'm ok...

Aha, I see, you think fast food is bad food. Then you should try Oves Pepparkorv containing 120% protein at this stand, then you'll see the light :-)

What about Nick on sunday?

And what about posting some shots with your top-notch lenses, then we could continue this PM-like discussion with grace and no-one would notice ;-)
