I think Sean's comments are interesting. Personally, I've found F 5.6 to be kind of a sweet spot on APS-C sensors and with my NEX 5 EVF, focus peaking and magnified view, I haven't felt that I needed to open up the lens to get accurate focus as he suggests.
OTOH, 35 mm is currently my widest range finder lens and it's possible if I was shooting with a wider lens at F8 that I might find some advantage of opening up the lens to F4 as he suggests....Show more →
Agreed, I really haven't seen the need to stop down meter at any aperture. I always shoot at working aperture.

I totally agree with you about the Leica R 60mm Macro. I should add one more lens for you to consider - Leica 180/3.4 APO.
I like this lens pretty well so far. It's a little longer than I prefer but I'm biding my time until I decide what I'm going to pick up in the 24-28mm range.
the swirl is mostly only present when other lenses would fall flat as well, just for different reasons (busy backgrounds with a short subject to background distance). i'm much less sensitive to it than most though.

Thanks! I was really surprised with how sharp that one came out, since I've otherwise had a very hard time getting that kind of critical sharpness with the 5N. The 3D pop is nice, too.

Lunchbreak today, first real shots with the Contax G 45/2. No particular artistic values, but at least a first chance to check some of its characteristics (all wide open F/2).
