Im really looking forward to the Zeiss 35 1.4 vs. nikon 35 1.4 af-s test coming up at diglloyds. The winner of that is most likely going to be my go-to lens the next few years :P
no problem with mine D3 and 35 f1.4. Yup AF-C, AF-S near far etc all the same. Jeez everywhere you look now people assume the 35 f1.4 doesn't AF correctly at all aperture etc lol ....see how the rumor spread.

.....remember the metal flake issue with the 70-200VR2?
I am sorry to tell you that my copy was terrible, no chance to get reliably focused pics. The behaviour of the AF was exactly the same Lloyd has described. And at short distances I noticed a terrible backfocus (on D3s).
Returned that copy and got tonight a new one. I will check it tomorrow ...
I'm really curious to hear if anyone is having trouble on a D700, or any other camera besides a D3(x,s).
In casual usage, mine seems to be fine on my D700. I haven't had the time during good light to get it on a tripod and compare AF long distance shots with LiveView+MF shots.
here's a few from my recent vacation (these are during a road trip to New Orleans) to start posting pics in this thread! It's an amazing lens! The 24G was outstanding, but the 35G holds it's own IMO...

I just had a Kai morning....watched about 6 different videos, great stuff! Watching the 24 1.4 he is complaining about being made out of plastic and then mentions, "half the cast of Baywatch was made of plastic....and that wasn't such a bad thing was it?"
I have never seen anything from this Kai myself until I started reading this thread. Now I am definitely entertained with the 35mm video and will have to certainly watch some more before the night is over. I like the comparison to Top Gear.
I also like the 35mm. Man... $1,800.. Wife is going to love this... might be a little while before I obtain my approval! Maybe I'll just be nice to her and hold off and opt for the TC2.0III. I am sure she would rather me spend $500 on a little tiny teleconverter.
