Kai is the Jeremy Clarkson of photography equipment reviews. You may learn a couple interesting things, but its mostly for entertainment.
Agreed. His reviews are lighthearted, comical, and lacks the" fan boy death squad" mentality. Kai clearly puts the significance of subjectivity in perspective.

I use to get irritated from his reviews, but then I realized that his reviews, like other people already mentioned, are like how Top Gear reviews cars... Watch it to drool over the gear and learn a few minute facts, but most of it is just entertainment bloat.
I just had a Kai morning....watched about 6 different videos, great stuff! Watching the 24 1.4 he is complaining about being made out of plastic and then mentions, "half the cast of Baywatch was made of plastic....and that wasn't such a bad thing was it?"
Here is a picture from the other day with the 35. f/1.4 surely shines. Haven't taken it out yet for any shooting that I do. WIll post more when I get more.
btw: "Guess what? I’m not sure that the Leica 35mm f/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH could do better here, if as well. Color, contrast, detail are as good as I’ve ever seen from a 35mm f/1.4 lens."
and:
"Image quality is outstanding, almost certainly the best I’ve ever seen in a 35mm lens, though the Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 Distagon has yet to arrive."

does anyone really have doubt a $1800 lens would be crap?
Well, the AF is, according to Diglloyd..
And well, I suspect no one thinks or believes that it is "crap", but the difference between "great" and "expectational, legendary, amazing" might be important for a few of those thinking about spending 1800..
So far, I'd being willing to put it in the "exceptional" category. I've yet to have the opportunity to use it for a wedding, which is why I bought it, but so far the images that I've made with this lens are "exceptional" For me it's worth the price, but for many it won't be.
I have a favor to ask of people that already own this lens. Can you confirm if you are seeing the same erratic AF behavior as Lloyd Chambers has found with the two copies he has tested?
Note that the problems Lloyd has found seem to be at long focus distances, and are less of a problem when focusing up close. Please respond only if you have tested AF behavior at long distances, shooting wide open.
I have a copy of this lens on hold for me, and am now having serious second thoughts.
I tried taking about 30 shots just minutes ago and cannot seem to replicate Lloyd's problem.
Tried AF-C, AF-S, spot, matrix... you name it... and at different focusing distance, but nothing.
Maybe Lloyd had a bad luck? Can some other 35G's owner share some info? I mean, there are probably about 500 copies worldwide as of now. I am sure they can't be perfect all of them. With more samples, we could get a better idea if these were isolated incidents or a major flaw.
