I'm generally a new-adopter. I bought the first E-P1 sold in Ottawa (possibly the first in Canada), and a bag of Voigtlander LTM lenses for it. After about six months of really never using it, I sold it to help pay for a 1DsIII. I'll get the X100 as soon as possible. I think I'll probably like it. If not, I'll sell it - no worries.
Ah, gotta love this:
"With manual focus selected, focusing is achieved using the focus ring around the lens barrel. A distance indication bar enables you to pre-focus if required."
Perfectly suited for street photography.
If they have designed it with high speed handling in mind, with zero start up time, quick card reading, good buffering, good batteries etc, it really looks like a much better camera than that ridiculous anti-decisive-moment digital camera I used to own called Leica M8. Most moments I lost with that camera was due to itīs prehistoric technology not being anywhere near the trigger happy speed it needs to be at, so I have hopes that this might be a winner...

I was gonna say the same because Fuji seems to have avoided most typical mistakes of the digital "take-camera-design-50-years-back" era. Like not putting a distance scale anywhere (see m4:3).
But I can still think of a few question marks that can make the camera severely anti-decisive and even break the deal for me:
- A lens that resets to infinity just before it takes a photo, like Nikon 35/28Ti or Contax G, with no workaround provided even when prefocused.
- A lens that forgets focus distance every time the camera goes to sleep mode or off.
- A lens without infinity stop (although this is not critical since there is a distance scale in the VF, just means you cant set focus without looking through the cam, or makes it easier to overshoot focus)
- A loud high pitch shutter and cocking mechanism
- A very slow buffer, Sigma DP style.
But I'm trying to kill the grumpy old curmudgeon in me, so I'll stay optimistic
An exciting - and very good looking camera! Totally gets that enticing low tech Leica vibe across, so no wonder people are looking forward to this camera :-)
I just pre-ordered one via Precision Camera today. I am loving the G1 and the 20/1.7, and would LOVE to do side-by-side comparos with these bodies. Interesting times, indeed.
Oh Henrik; I know I should resist this one... but life is short. Even if the Buddhists and Hindus are right, and this is just one turn on the wheel, this is the one we are awake for now (and there were no digital cameras in my previous lifetime!)

Cheers, KL
Do you assume that each life line has the same time line?
Fuji really seems to have their marketing together on the release of this camera, much more so then I can recall for any previous Fuji camera. If they had marketed their previous DSLR's this well, perhaps they would still be around - a true shame really.
Does the camera feature image stabilisation?
Image stabilisation is required when using fixed or zoom lenses with telephoto focal lengths and variable maximum apertures. As the X100 features a fixed lens with a maximum fast aperture of F2, image stabilisation is not required as this combination will still allow photographers to successfully hand-hold the camera in low light conditions.
Wrong! I use IS around this focal length all the time. Saying it's not required is just patronizing. If they said they chose not to impliment it "because", then that would be fine with me, although i'd still like it/want it to have IS.
Oh, i still "want" it of course ;-)
Anyone checked out the viewfinder? The photos showing the view through it? Look at the information, bes viewfinder ever made... ever ;-)
The concept of an internal ND filter is awesome. Especially when combined with "Because the X100 uses a lens shutter system, the camera is capable of high-speed flash synchronisation."
3x ND, high speed sync, and what look to be really great lens and VF designs? I just wanted a digital version of my Canonet but this seems like it's going way above and beyond.
None. I've never used one and don't feel a need to use one. I rely on that ancient method of stabilizing my lenses: I shoot with a shutter speed that's twice the focal length of the lens. I either increase my ISO to compensate or, if I'm shooting film, I either shoot anyway or just let the shot go.
