I'm surprised you were able to get focus on some of those objects, quite impressive.
thanks,
split focus screen is a must
for action shots (tennis, race cars) you have to zone focus (I'm used to this from my old 35mm days)
for static shots I use live view, when time permits
i used to own this lens
- heavy lens for me - definitely not in walk around or travel arsenal of lenses (although i own old 300/2.8L)
- Magic Drainpipe 80-200/2.8L is better performer IMO, much more contrast and 3D look + zoom
Pictures are unedited and wide open. Bokeh from lens is excellent IMO. All pictures are unedited, only resized and sharpened a bit for web. Contrast at wider apertures is quite poor, but you can easily correct in post processing. Sharpness increaces with stopping down, but i can not judge enough from 4MP EOS 1D camera. Spot on focussing is uneasy. Reason for selling was hard to focus in action shots and i find Drainpipe to be better than sonnar 200/2.8 for overall use.
