p.14 #1 · Vagabond Mini Lithium

Kacey, I wish you would quit trying to be my buddy or peer or advisor whatever. You have made it very clear about how you feel. Please give it up.

Well, that hurts.... I thought we were bonding there for a second. What else are we going to talk about for the coming weeks until all the parts are in? Don't worry you have no obligation for any input. We did make progress on getting rid of those holes around the flash tube of the E1.... I've seen many suggestions tossed your way from various members here we have no stake if you implement them or not.

Could you imagine if the head of camera design for Nikon or Canon came to the forums here and listened and interacted with all the feature and design requests? It would be mayhem.

Sounds like Kacey is still trying to play "poke the bear".

Exactly. Hopefully they are working hard to get new product out the door.

I imagine Canon would totally cripple us right where it hurts.

No more "magical" 5d2s that people would sell their 1ds3s for.

Not sure what Nikon would do, make shit even awesomer but forget to visit the Lens Forums ?

Given the red X below his name apparently Paul has now been banned from fredmiranda.com

Great...now for the onslaught of "Should Paul Be Brought Back?" and "Did Paul Deserve It?" polls.

If Paul is gone that is sad.
But it is not my board, so they can do what they like.
I am sure there are good reasons, this has always been a great place.

I still learn so much here, not just about photograph.

best

I mostly hung out on this forum to see what was new, and hear what Paul was working on. While I probably won't be checking this forum much (if at all) in the the future, I'll still be around on the Nikon and B&W forums. I used to get a LOT of insight on this forum, probably more than any other photo board I frequent anywhere. Now it will just be another forum where people who don't know sit and speculate anyway. Sort of like the NIkon forum, . One of the things I do NOT like about FM forums is the moderators seem to be anonymous and can do stuff in a cowardly fashion.

For information on his products, the best place to go has always been his own forum.

FM doesn't ban people or lock threads often. Actually, this is the first case of banning I've seen. According to his own forum, he was banned for critiquing another vendors lights.

It would be a huge loss if Paul is no longer a contribuitor anymore on FM.

I don't think he was critiquing as much as clarifying technical attributes associated with variable voltage limitations associated with color variance.

As I explained to someone ... when you change the temperature of heat applied to steel, it will change colors, i.e. red hot, white hot, etc. So it is with voltage changes to the filament ... it must have a color shift when you lower the voltage (if I understand correctly).

electronic flash tubes don't have a filament.

That's correct for incandescent lamps, but electronic flash doesn't work that way; they work by passing a current through a tube of zenon gas, similar to a flourescent light or neon tube but much faster. Instead of hot filaments they have conductive electrodes.

That's his excuse, but it's a pretty poor one. If you read his posts over the years, you'll see that he often exibited rude and trollish behavior, hijacked threads, misrepresented other posters' statements, over-reacted when disagreed with, and otherwise acted in a manner that bore a strong resemblance to narcissistic personality disorder.

His most resent outbursts in a thread about a non-PCB product was, I suspect the last straw. For him to imply that his being banned was due to a supposed relationship between Fred Miranda and advertisers is just another of his irrational rantings as far as I'm concerned.

It's especially funny given that most people have assume the reason he has still been on FM is because he's mates with Fred!

Good to see he's encouraging his loyal followers (via his forum) to troll FM, as well. Classy.

ooops!!! ... forgot about the gas vs. filament. (Won't a change in voltage through the gas still render a different result?)

No doubt that PCB was a bit reactive to people pushing his buttons, but I'll still miss his technical interaction (I obviously need it more than most)

...And that pretty much sums it all up.
