We met this young man named Forrest in the lobby of the Willard at 6:30 am Saturday. Claims, and I quote, that he is the “next generation of the lean, mean, fighting machine of the United States Marine Corps.” I kid you not. Verbatim.

The elderly and infirm were out in full force. Many grandmas in wheelchairs braved the hot sun for hours. Inspiring.

People would walk up to the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and lead hundreds of people sitting on the steps singing the Star-Spangled Banner or the Pledge of Allegiance.

As the rally honored our troops and veterans, I saw many proud warriors.

There were several people sporting Founders’ attire.

The crowd right before the start. For reference, it is one mile between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument. There were as many people on each side of the reflecting pool on the other side of both rows of trees seen here. I have never seen so many humans amassed at one location. MSNBC estimated the crowd at 300,000; therefore, double that and you probably are approaching the accurate number.

At the nearby Vietnam Veterans Memorial, one is overtaken with sadness, with reverence, and an acute realization of the horrors of war, and of the grief and sacrifice of so many loved ones left behind.

he doesn't look lean and mean to me now, but I can guarantee by the time he finishes Parris Island, he'll be kick-ass tough. And his sentiment is in the right place as far as I'm concerned.
Excellent photo journalism, IMHO. Last pic had me running to the "head," laughing hard enough thought I was gonna drain the swamp in the wrong place

I liked the photos, most of them very well done. A thoughtful series that really brought out the irony of how many old people on social security are supporting someone who wants to do away with the government programs that support them. Free speech is a great thing, no matter what you believe.

I really like #10,11,12, but the others feel snapshot-ish. Those three really pop for me. Thank you for sharing your experience at the rally

great set! i love all the shots. it was a great people rally. the comments by the earlier poster show exactly why the dems are about to be crushed in the coming election. they have no reasonable agenda, only class warfare, hatred, and race baiting
