Yeah, there goes the retail on my 400 2.8 IS...maybe. How does that compare the Nikon's version price wise? The lens looks very different on the outside...who knows. I can buy a decent car for that.
I was looking at an 07 Acura TSX with 60K miles...16,000$
I gotta say, I don't think I'm ever going to get to own a 400 f/2.8 ever, ever, ever.

Good lord...so much for Canon's super teles being cheaper.
Yup. The difference between the manufacturers lens prices was my main reason for picking Canon over Nikon. I guess Canon thinks they're leaving money on the table....

Wow, 70-300 can be one best travel lens
I actually wonder. It is actually heavier than a 70-200 f/4L IS + TC 1.4. Sure the new 70-300 is probably doing better at 300 than the zoom with TC, but I doubt many people will find it makes sense to get that lens in addition to their 70-200 (esp. at $1500).

You know, the 300 was perhaps Canon's best lens...will be interesting to see how the new one works out.
Well, the new one is 2000 more. You can get a new body for 2000.
I wonder whats inside. Is the mount made out of gold?

It seems that the age of the (relatively) inexpensive full frame lens is coming to an end. I wonder how long before the 50/1.8II becomes a $400 markIII?

Or the long overdue Canon 50mm f/1.4 II for $700? Starting to get really expensive around here..

I'm thinking affordable lenses will soon become only available in EF-S mount. On another note, I wonder if high density sensors have something to do with these (ridiculous) price increases on the super tele line.
