I hope everyone realizes that we're fast approaching 1,000 pages AGAIN...
There are almost 6,000 pages archived after Fred concluded his servers needed some relief. Anyone who is curious can go to the first page of this thread and find a link to those early years. Alas, the photos aren't generally on display, but then we were all just beginning this adventure and apart from a few brilliant shots by Donald Jean we were learning by doing. I've certainly seen the development of skills among those who've been around for awhile... myself included. This has been a worthy venture for all of us... made possible through our affection for Nikon manual focus lenses. And that is one reason I LOVE gear photos...
Here is one of my first purchases... pristine lenses I tracked from E-Bay to FM where the seller accepted my ridiculously low offer of $850 for the three lenses. The 20 f/2.8 AI-s had the last serial number then listed on photosynthesis so it was practically a new lens.

London's lockdown so I spent time focus stacking with the light tent, my D800E and the old 55mm 2.8 Micro.
Would recommend getting one of those tents if your are home-locked. It's a fairly affordable way of spending creative time indoors. Approx GBP 50 which includes the lighting.

There you go, trying to stir up some GAS. We have no chance with you and Rafael.
Well, actually I'm still trying to figure out how to attach a medium format Bronica Nikkor lens to a D800, but now I have the PB-4 bellows to make that a little more likely to happen.
I have been scrounging around the house looking for things just like that. I have some video lights with umbrellas that I haven't used recently. Some black felt and some empty burlap coffee bean bags that may make for some interesting backdrops.
Thanks! I bet the burlap will be significantly more interesting to work with. The mousepad holds dust and has a distracting texture when in focus. Actually, most of the processing is hiding the fact that it is, indeed, a mousepad lol.

I drool for E series lenses, but they are relatively pricey, the 100mm 2.8 goes for $100 +, and that for a cheapskate like me is Nikkor territory.
I was seeing the 100's much closer to the $80 range. I bought two, one from Robert's (had a missed defect and got returned), and one from eBay. Both were $75 and looked really clean. I bought the 50 and 100 to be users, and I couldn't be happier with the price to performance ratio.
If you make a higher offer on that 300 f/2, you really oughta insist that Robert's throw a few E lenses in with it. The 50's would make nice packing material.

Coffee bean bag burlap. Now that would make interesting micarta for a knife handle!
