I accept the fact the 50-135 f/3.5 AI-s is regarded as "Leighton's lens" though I WAS the first person to bring that lens to this thread. But alas, I was so busy trying new lenses that it was in fact Leighton who demonstrated over and over again what a wonderful performer this lens is. It is a great walk around zoom that is fast enough you can produce some delicious images. After spending a couple of days with another zoom, the venerable 80-200 f/4.5 AI, I thought it might be fun to pull out the 50-135 and see what it could do when mounted to the PK-13 extension tube. I rambled through another neighborhood not far from where I live and had some fun. I expect I'll play a bit more with this lens today... a lovely sunny day. Take care folks!

You didn't buy the car on Tennessee Street did you? The foot of that street which led to the entrance to the island was FILLED with car dealerships and tattoo parlors. Those were the days my friend...
Mare Island on the right, City of Vallejo on the left separated by the Napa River.
Did you by any chance ever eat at Curtola's restaurant adjacent to the marina near the entrance to Mare Island... or the tiny restaurant near the bridge? Curtola was Mayor but most of City Hall staff ate at the tiny, casual restaurant.
That's a stunner Scott! I missed the fact you bought that lens. Definitely a winner as we've learned from Jay's fine offerings. I've never felt I could afford spending that much money for a lens, but then I'm retired so the bank account generally goes in one direction... DOWN...

No, didn't buy it there. I was stationed in Connecticut and just there on temporary duty for school. I remember the bridge, but don't recall the restaurant. Trying to remember what I ate last night

We were invaded with Cedar Waxwings this afternoon and they made short work of the berries on our holly tree. It was at least 50 of them at a time. I grabbed the 200mm f/2 Ai and went on the front porch to get some shots. I probably could have had more keepers with the 200-500 autofocus but what fun would that be
Great to see you Ani. You're not going to tell me that people who live on ranches in the middle of the mountains have been ordered to shelter-in-place, are you? I saw a list of occupations and their vulnerability for this disease and the safest was loggers. I would expect you and your husband are far on that side of the scale. Hope all is well. Kirkland had some serious problems but that too is close to a big city. Stay close to your horses...
