Schools want to close over here as well. Empty displays in grocery stores. Sure thing, we're getting closer to Easter holidays. Trying to ignore the mass panic around this Corvid-19 outbreak. If all people were behaving sensibly, there should be no problem to provide anyone with whatever it is they need.
In the middle of this all, and most likely the only occurence I will still be able to remember some 5 years from today, is that my new lens showed up in the mail
One of the main reasons to try out this lens is the diaphragm shape. With 15 blades, it remains pretty much round when stopping down. I hope that gives me a benefit when shooting one or two stops from wide open.
It's been in my eBay cart a time or two, but it just seems too close to a 35/100 or 50/100 combo. Both in terms of coverage, and overall size. From what I can tell, the 35-200 has a really pleasant rendering on both ends, it'd offer me a smaller alternative to my 70-200 VRII for the long end, it offers a generous close-focus distance, and it's cheap! Sounds like a win to me.

Never thought the 35-200 could do such nice photos Georg.
Thanks Rafael. For me I have a love hate relationship with that lens . Hard to focus on the DSLR at times and unless you shoot wide-open on the Z6 the focus peaking is not very accurate with the large depth of field shooting at f8 (I consider that the sweet spot).
Just takes practice. You get very good results when you do nail it.

I see in your profile you are in NC. Not sure how far you are from Raleigh, but definitely check out Southeastern Camera. They have a ton of used lenses. I was there today and I should have looked for you

Love those Jets Ken, how do the engines work, are they real jet engines or rockets?
Raphael I am not sure if they are a smaller scale jet engine or one designed specifically for RC. Standing far to the rear of one I could feel the thrust. They are not rockets.

The 35-200 is smaller than the lenses you mention. It renders nicely plus it has a macro feature. I like it!

George
I'll have to check them out next time I head for the coast. I'm close enough to the Charlotte area that Bigg's Camera isn't too much of hike, so that's where I get C41 developed. They don't carry a ton of used stock, it's mostly common stuff, but they always have pretty good prices. They actually just started putting their used inventory online here: https://www.biggscameraused.com/

Testing the other one I received this week. NIKKOR-P 105mm f/2.5. Built just like the 135mm and just as nice to use. Though not quite Rafael condition, it came well-preserved in the original "bottle". On the plus side, the hood is for for both it and the 135mm.

George, looks like the focus peaking worked here pretty well. That's a handsome polar bear, at least from a distance.
I have had struggles with trying to use focus peaking in a few scenarios, especially at some distance.

Ken those RC planes are intriguing! Long long back I got a small prop RC, never got it to fly. Its still gathering dust somewhere around or maybe it got thrown out at some point.
