While I haven't been shooting my manual focus Nikkors all that much lately, I wanted to stop by to wish everyone a happy holiday season and a healthy and happy new year.
Here's one to share; a December twilight taken with the 50/1.2.

Peace,

Jeff we've missed you! Great to see you haven't lost your touch!
I haven't been using my camera much, relying on the phone 99% of the time. But I forced myself to trot out the 50 1.2 for a week in Taiwan a couple of weeks ago. After the accident and protracted wrangling with travel insurance, I thought, life is short, and whisked my parents, wife and kid out for a short trip.
We only had a day out, spending our time mostly in the city. This was taken at the rural township of Jiaoxi, about 45mins to a hour out from the capital, Taipei. We hired a driver and since my wife was the only one conversant in Mandarin, I rarely felt comfortable asking him to pull over for interesting shots. But I had to, after passing by the nth house... with its own paddy field. Almost every house had an adjoining plot of land, and, I assume since it's a staple, they'd grow rice.
Google Maps (the driver it turns out was not familiar with the area!) would bring us criss-crossing between fields of paddy, on single lane access roads. So cool I thought, as I hovered over the water's edge, crouched and resting on the balls of my feet... until the first mosquito descended on the fleshy bit between thumb and forefinger...
Just noticed the skies darken after I posted ... I totally forgot about the annular solar eclipse! Singapore gets a good view of it; grabbed the camera, slapped on my welder's glass and 10 stop ND, then tried to take a shot.
Thanks Samy, still hanging around, mostly in the shadows. and hitting the like button a lot. Waiting to get converted from a non-career to career employee, I'm in the top ten, I'm told. Once I have regular hours and a regular schedule things will be better.

Laura, hadn't heard much from you lately, glad to see you visit back here, and best wishes!
Jeff, good to see you post too! Happy holidays and happy new year.
Managed to find an hour to play with an Xmas present - an A3 LED light box that is less than 10mm thick. Produces a nice bright uniform light across the surface. Not a bad performer given the low cost.
Anyway, the colourful gin bottles just had to be explored! Used the 28/2.8 AI-S
Sar, excellent results from the double TC-stacked telephoto Nikkor! I was checking out the Sydney to Hobart race you gave us a glimpse of a couple days back. One of the boats had a run in with a whale (at least that was their excuse for not winning ). Cool photo, likely taken from a helicoper, of the race at the Sydney Morning Herald here: https://www.smh.com.au/sport/sailing/comanche-takes-out-2019-sydney-to-hobart-20191228-p53n9q.html
5cm f2 HC collapsible on the Z6. The ~1949 coated lens does quite well, as long as the sun is in the back. Couple of pics I tried shooting against the sun were full of glare all over, even at f/11 or so. That was true even if the sun wasn't quite in the frame. Wonder how much a hood will help the lens.
