Good to see some old faces posting !
I understand you and Barbara are retiring Leighton ? No excuse for not posting now !
Still no Reagan though ?
Speaking of Reagan, I have just sold my recently purchased Z6.
I didn't care for it for doing either macro or wildlife so am going back to 2 specialist bodies, a D500 to go with my 200-500VR for birds and wildlife and a D810 to use for macro and everything else.
I needed a 2nd body anyway for when we are in Borneo next year, 1 set up for bugs, 1 set up for Orangutans etc. - I will need to have both to hand at all times so 1 body not really an option.
My macro lens is arriving shortly and that will be the Laowa 100mm f2.8 (2X life size mf macro lens).
But I still have a few MF nikkors, the 16/3.5 fisheye, 20UD, 50/1.4SC, 200/4Q.
Its nice to get a welcome back along with the kind words. The 55mm F/1.2 is a great lens, looking forward to seeing what the new NOCT will offer as well, way out of my price range so the 55mm will have to come along for more hikes in the near future...

Interesting that you have ditched the Z series just as I am deciding whether to pull the trigger on one now that UK prices have dropped in preparation for the madness of Black Friday and the lead up to the end of year holiday season.
I would benefit from IBIS but hate the aesthetics of the adaptor so could see myself moving more towards S lenses and ditching most of my MF ones except for a chosen few. As I get older this kind of decision is getting harder to make.

The S lenses are outstanding, but I find myself shooting my old Nikkor lenses mainly because of this forum
Plus the IBIS breathes new life into handholding the old MF primes.
I love the performance of the Z6, but still think it is an ugly camera. I know that is superficial and the final image is what matters, but it is what it is
Last Sunday … and it was a sunny day Robin and I went to the Kiwi SWAP meet with Jay where we had a good day!
Shown in 1/40th of a sec. is an out of focus lens that I think Raphael would love to have in his case. Only 78 of them were produced it's the 300mm F2.8. Takes a 121mm filter, weighs a ton and would probably break the FTZ adaptor. Second shot are customers going somewhere to eat Thai food!

I wish we had SWAP meets like that in my area. Nothing around here that I know of. Only a couple places that even deal in used gear.

What makes that 300/2.8 rare? I have one and so does Buddy...
Andy, that was quick. Somewhat surprised the Z6 did not suit any of your use cases and you are going back to the 'heavy' DSLRs. I can't blame you though, I know I have my own things that attract me to a camera and make me use it more or make it more desirable. Simplicity is one of them. Shooting experience another. I'd more readily choose a Df over a Z camera if I had a choice and the money to make it happen.
George, I'm with you. The cameras are quite challenging to look at but the lenses are worse. I can't believe they were designed by the same company that brought us the beautiful scalloped Nikkors and the crinkle-finished D lenses. Oh well.

The owner said they were made for the (Montreal ??) Olympics In answer to Georges comment I thought he said F2.8 and I might have heard him wrong. Does yours have a 121mm front element Kevin? His does and it is a monster. It's non Ai and I've never seen one. Perhaps Jay can ad more info.

Thanks for the likes and kind words everyone.
Colin, since you need an adapter to use with the Z6 anyway, you really ought to take a look at the X-T3. IMHO, it's a much better camera than the Z6.

With a Metabones Speedbooster adapter you can get almost full frame equivalent field of view too. I had the X-T2 for a while. Great form factor. If Nikon made a full frame equivalent with IBIS in F mount, I would be sold It is hard getting past that FTZ with these old lenses. I guess I should say with the smaller primes. Now with the 200/2 and 300/2.8 it doesn't really make that much of a difference since the camera is essentially a rear lens cap And those lenses are where the Z6 IBIS wins over.

If this is the one, it is rare indeed! So did you get it?

I agree about if Nikon made a full frame in F-mount, but they never will sadly.

No I did not but I really think he was looking to trade for my NOCT which he was really drooling over. This lens is huge and needs a tri-pod for ANY use. Pretty decent glass that made me think this is a "Dia de le Meurte" lens for Raphael.
the owner also said it was the very first lens series produced with ED glass.
The shop owner said that its a one in a million lens and selling it would have to go to a one in a million buyer,

I wouldn't want to be lugging the 300 f2 around, it weighed 7+ kg!
Speaking of weight, I am finally going for the lighter, and lot more practical, 200-500 Nikkor AFS. The 500 F4 P while optically superb, has not gotten around much or even out of its case in the last couple years. I do need to be careful to hold the lens, and not the little Z6 with its FTZ adapter.
Just saw the discussion just above about the Z for longer lenses. I have the Df still, but for the 200-500 I have a feeling the pixels and the quality I will stick with the Z6.
