Jose, on the newer AF lenses, the rear filter is part of the optical design so it's necessary. Not sure about the 122mm screw in front filter, but I suspect it provides a protection measure too.
The front filter is not part of the optical formula, so it is not required. I did buy the same 122mm L37C for my 300mm f2,8 Ai-S Nikkor though. I'm outdoors a lot, and the big front element is a pain to get free of dust once it's caked. To make my life a lot easier, I attached the front filter, which is a lot easier to clean.
The one Laura posted is a more then decent price. I paid about the same for mine.

I agree totally with brand loyalty! BUT... Sony has been good to me so it’s all I buy TV wise. I’ve used Nikon for 40 years. I almost bought Canon but a buddy said they’re OK but if you leave it on you dash it will melt!
My cruise advisor, (Reagan) has filled me in on the tips and tricks. My daughter has my CC# so all I have to do is show up and of course pay.
My logic is flawed in that Nikon often use Sony manufactured sensors. Does that mean Fuji is calling me?
Am appreciating the discussion about workflow and which software products folks are using. My computer guru, a friend who worked for years at Adobe and who has been working with Mac products since they were first released is a real pest when it comes to upgrading. He insists that "to stay current" we need to upgrade software and when necessary hardware. He also has no interest is joining the Adobe lifetime servitude club. He turned to Affinity but has been able to keep CS6 alive through Mojave. The rumor has it that the next iteration of OSX will be the one driving a wooden stake through all these old pieces of software. Reading this thread I'm reminded of my much loved G5 with four internal drive bays. If I recall correctly, it was Firewire that did that machine in for me. Before that I had the exquisite Cube with a matching monitor...
But my third iMac, a 2013 model without a Retina display or an SSD but with a 27" monitor gives me everything. Like Ken B, I really enjoy working with Lightroom. I bought the last iteration of that software, version 6. something or other. If the next iteration of OSX won't play nicely with my Adobe software I'll ignore my friend's advice and just stay where I'm at. Like Colin says, it is ain't broke, which fix it. And the same goes for cameras with me. Yes, I'd love a few more megapixels but the Df performs beautifully for me. I may just stay here where everything just works.
This panorama as taken this afternoon during a hike in the Marin Municipal Water District watershed. It was a GLORIOUS day with temperatures reaching 86 degrees. It was a bit cooler when I was walking. This photo was taken the the 28 f/2 AI-s.
Andy, they are charging by the focal length in Mysore?
Colin, the MIT series is great, but the IR shot is really intriguing.
Very much enjoyed the lupine pano Curtis.
I'm mostly Nikon on Nikon, though if the X-T or X-3 had IBIS I might have been tempted to try it. Now that the Z's are out, the X system got a lot less interesting.
I've tried ON1 on three separate occasions / releases (demo), it's always crashed in 2 or 3 uses. I have not tried since. Still on LR5.xx, never did buy the 6.x. DNG converter for incompatible files, though one of these days I would not be surprised if they stopped updating the DNG converter too.

Jay, very nice flowers! Now that's one thing I have never tried. How does one use an enlarging lens?
To use an EL lens on a DSLR or Z, you will either need a lot of extension tubes (I want to say I had to use 90mm with my EL 105) or a bellows attachment (preferred). You will also need a F to M39 adapter.
I love the flat field these lenses offer. When I’m sitting with my tablet later, I’ll post a shot I took with my EL lens. One thing I want to find is a focusing helical for mine to make it easier to use as a walk around lens.
Currently in Monterrey, CA. Brought a backpack full of glass with me. Didn’t take many photos, but I did try out the 400/5.6 ED. Wow! I’m impressed. I can only imagine how much better it is on a mono or tripod. And with the speedbooster or regular adapter, I get 424mm or 600mm. Haven’t even tried the 600mm FOV yet and still amazed. Hopefully will get more use tomorrow.

There was a small charge for cameras like a lot of places in India but then a massive fee if you had a "professional" kit which they had decided was any lens over 200mm !
The longest lens I took was the 180 so I was fine, I kept the TC200 in my pocket 😉
Lots of places in India have ridiculous rules regarding photography the most baffling and annoying being allowed to take pics with your phone but not a camera 🤬
I actually refused to see some things due to the no camera/photos rules. It made me very angry ! 😁
No logic to it at all (lots of consumer dslrs owned by locals) and whenever I asked the reason for it I got the usual "Government Regulations", usually from someone with a gun ! 😳
Yes, I love that place. What I am interested in is a similar forum for manual only shooting. Though it's a great forum, there seems - to me - a focus - no pun intended - on auto.
But thanks for taking the time responding.
I looked up Plaubel Makina 67.
Very interesting and informative reviews out there which, along with your images, piqued my interest until I viewed current used prices. Z6 territory!
Made a mental note of the value of this item with the Nikon lens should I come across one a garage sale or bric-a-brac shop.

Like you, I'm using LR6 and love it. I'm also still using Windows 7, which Microsoft has said they will stop supporting in 2020. That means, although it will still run, it won't receive any security updates, or any updates at all. I'll be forced to make a decision at that time. I do know I'm not buying the LR subscription.

The upgrade to the latest Windows is pretty painless for most, I went straight from 7 to the current and skipped everything in between. Navigation is somewhat different, but there is an option to set it up to look just like 7. There is a lot of info on the transition a mere Google away.
At the office I have been using Apple OS for over a decade, and over time, I have grown to really prefer that over Windows. Like you, No go on Adobe subs. I will switch to DXO if forced, although I really like LR.

Will my copy of LR6 continue to work upgrading to Windows 10?
