There is not very much color down on the NC coast this time of year, so posting a late afternoon shot of Bodie Island Lighthouse in black and white (processed in ON1).

Here are a couple early shots with the $200 challenge. The entire camera package I’m using cost me $200 (well, $202). Fuji XE1 ($100), Lens Turbo ($49.99, eBay mismarked), 50/1.4 AI lens was $35, card was $15, strap was $2.
These shots are SOOC, all processing is done in-camera. I prefer the look of using an actual yellow filter, over using a b/w + y software filter. Still working out camera settings. If you click through, I have the full resolution images from the camera so you can judge edge sharpness (which seems pretty damn good). All shots are handheld...
Now that looks perfectly usable. I am surprised. I read some quite different reviews on those Lens Turbo thingies a while back, but I guess the manufacturer got their stuff right now

Make sure you get the Lens Turbo II. The first one did kinda suck. The new version doesn’t seem to add anything to the rendering of the lens. If the rain lets up, I will try to take a couple shots with the Lens Turbo II side by side with the D600 to compare.

Same with the Metabones Speed Booster. Get the Ultra vs the original. That is the one I used on my Fuji and honestly did not see any huge differences vs shooting the Nikon lenses on Nikon body. Even though I don't have any Fuji bodies right now, I did hold on to my adapters. I may look at an IR converted X-Pro1 or X-Pro2 one day. So far that itch has been kept in check. At least until Colin starts back with posting his incredible IR/BW shots again

Go the route I did...Fuji XE1. Got it for $100. Seen a few around that price here. XPro1 is a tad more. Throw a yellow filter on the front, shoot b/w jpgs and pretend you’re shooting film.

Thanks for the praise George. Funny you should mention IR.
Work & chores are still getting in the way of any serious camera time.
Sunday was bright and sunny and although gardening was the main task I did a quick lens comparison test in IR.
Basically I compared the good IR all-rounder (16-85 VR) against the 16/3.5, 24/2.8 NC. 50/2 H and 85/1.8 H
The 24/2.8 NC is the weakest (but still very good) of the above 4. Maybe I need to try the 'N' version.
At much as I love the flexibility of the modern zoom I must say that the old MF glass, without modern lens coatings wins hands down. The 16-85 images are a tad softer but perfectly usable.
Work takes me to the Boston area next week so I will be taking a few MF lenses, the D610 and D7100 IR.
My wife is going fly out later in the week and join me for a few days vacation so photography will be high on the agenda.
It is tough being a Brit (Scottish actually) in Boston with the Freedom Trail, Paul Revere, Sam Adams, etc........
Yeah really enjoying the B&W jpegs from the XT1, especially as the skies here are generally bland due to haze presumably caused by pollution.
We are in Amritsar now, having been here for a few days, visited the Golden Temple and watched the border ceremony yesterday.
Tonight we catch a train to Rishikesh, the home if Yoga where the Beatles went, then it's Varanasi, Darjeeling, Assam, Kolkata, and HK for 5 days on the way home !

Andy,
This and your previous B&W set have been my favourites from your epic journey through India.
