Just received series e 100mm in the post, excited for the weekend but I am confused by its FL of almost 160mm on DX (I don't have FX). What is that FL most useful for?
Here are a couple of candids I took with my D7100. If you shoot from a normal distance this is what your framing will look like. You can get nice head / mid / full body shots if the person poses for you.
On full frame I mainly use it for macro (paired with an extension tube). Even without an extension tube it can focus reasonably close, it is possible to use it to take photos of food or flowers on DX cameras.
Glen, very sorry about your brother. All the best to you both.
A couple more from DC, both with the Fuji X-E1.
28/2.8 AIs @ f/4: Suspect this little guy is darn glad the shutdown is over, more traffic=more snacks.
50/1.8 AI @ f/5.6: I was standing in front the the White House waiting patiently for anything that would add some color to the scene. It started to rain and the young lady cranks open the pink umbrella. I should have thanked her.
Thanks all for your recent likes and friendly comments. I visited my brother in Vancouver yesterday (I had the day off work), and he is clearly deteriorating but he was still able to talk (the cancer originated in his jaw muscles and increasingly hampers his speech) and we had a very enjoyable visit.
To expand on a feature of your "Valley Fog" image, Jay, here are some sun beams at Cathedral Grove, including two from the 50 f/1.2 Ai-s and one from the 28 f/2 Ai-s.

If you are out and about shooting street then consider architectural details too.
I sometimes shoot street at 85mm on my DX IR camera. I like the perspective when the background context is captured too.
However I normally go wide for street: 16/24 on DX and 24/28 on FX and shoot from the hip.
Confrontation always worries me so I am not as bold (or anywhere as good) as Ben or Philippe in this genre.
Colin
Yes!I have mostly shot wide on rare occasions I shot street. I can’t shoot people/faces well so portraits are out and same: I wouldn’t know what to do if it comes to confrontation

I found it to be an OK lens for taking landscapes
I’ll still try something that doesn’t involve people . I’m no good at that kind of photos. Great pics though, I have D7200.
Well its cold here in Florida! Too cold in fact. Daughter visiting but came here with the flu or some unknown malady. My best buddy down the road just had a knee replaced. Robin did her best to make things comfortable but had a bad reaction to a root canal. That leaves me as, Doctor, Pharmacist, Delivery Boy, Room Service, Psychological Counselor and jack of all other trades.
Here's one to WARM me up and hopefully someone else on the thread!

Holy wow! Might sound stupid since I never shot fisheye, but how does this photo appear “flat” and not fish-eye-ish the way I have always seen? I never liked the appeal of those photos and didn’t bother but I love this. May be my understanding of fisheye lens has been wrong all this while.

Ken Hope Robin and your daughter get well and that it warms up! Were you using auto White Balance on the Z6?
Laura Are you saying you took a Manual Focus lens to the Auto Focus museum?
D800 24mm PC-E
Jay, Yes to your white balance question. I’ve read about some issues with the Z6 auto WB but have not experienced any problems yet. Most of my shots and composition do not lend themselves to produce a “problem.”
