Yes, it's AI converted, I've used it on my D3 and D700 the most There was another go around with a 28 PC lens a couple years ago, too. I forget where that story was stashed.

I just read the last entry of that blog. Incredible concept! Was that not done again? Very intriguing and beautiful images.
Is the 85 hc auto AI converted? If so I'll buy it. I don't have 85 focal length.

I would be in if this happens again, especially with a more general purpose focal length like 35 or 50mm although I dont mind a specific purpose lens too! I don't know how previous candidates were chosen.
(Series e 50mm would be a great candidate: cheap, easy to clean, small and light and if it is lost, it is lost - no big heartbreak.)

That story is stashed here. It's in reverse-chronological order, so start at the bottom of the second page if you want to follow the action sequentially. Unfortunately, it doesn't display the full journey of "Nikko," as only Buddy and Kristina, David, and I managed to post images for Mark to upload to that blog; but it gives the general idea.
Here are a few shots of mirror-like Cameron Lake two Sundays ago: two with the 28 f/2 Ai-s and one with the 180 f/2.8 Ai-s.

That BW one is my preferred one.
It's a long time ago I visited Cameron Lake (over 25 years), but what I remember it was one of the most beautiful sights I've seen.
Thanks to those who gave me tips - settled on Flickr and Jose explained how to upload.
Some from the Turbine Hotel on Thesen Island, Knysna. This was a major timber undertaking which had to be closed to prevent pollution of the Knysna Estuary. It was redeveloped into a commercial/residential estate and very tasteful use was made of the old factory buildings. The power station was recycled into a very upmarket hotel which is very successful.
