I’m having a photography crisis. I’m actually thinking of selling off my kit and getting a basic something with a zoom. Something I can setup to spit out jpegs that I don’t have to edit.
I like the process for the most part, but I have damn near zero time to edit. I’m also tired of being the photographer for all family events. Then I have to deal with people that think they know how to do the shot better and get impatient.
What do you think I should do?
I'm an expert in these kind of crisis So many I overcomed in the past I cann't count them... IMHO is a wrong decision to sell all your gear. In general I re-order my gear, selling what I use less often or I do not like much the output. I do have very little time for PP and I do not think that I am PPing more than 2-3 % from the pictures I take. But I leave them on the disk for the years when I'll have plenty of time (hopefully). For family events, both my cameras (D750 and Z6) are producing very nice jpegs... just make sure to have exposed them properly. And, yeah, I leave camera home when I do not want to be the photographer of the family events. Good luck!
4 frame pano stitch with the 16mm f/3.5 AI - I had 6 frames but nothing I tried would stitch all 6, even though there was more than 50% overlap. Still nice and the output contains the moon and sun, which is what I was after.
Kinda dark now that I see it on a different screen, but let's call it "saturated and rich" in color

Kinda dark? I have noticed recently that jpegs I upload to my Flickr gallery are always darker than the original.
However downloading the hi-res image from Flickr shows no difference to the one I uploaded. Therefore Flickr's compression algorithm must be doing something.

I agree with Mihai. Just about all the family shots this Christmas were JPG right out of the camera. I think the Z6 jpg Picture Control settings are excellent. The ability to make custom profiles is very good too. Especially for B&W. If it only had that Fuji ACROS secret sauce . Getting close.
Jay these are some terrific shots for the Holiday spirit. Love the lighting!
Kevin we've all been there so just do what you like. When the kids talk about the early events in their lives, they have lived them but I only saw them from a viewfinder. I've missed a lot of life.
Martin your boredom translates into wonderful pictures.
Peter your moon and sun brings this to another level. Top notch!

Your call below B/W or color? Which is which?
Samy, Colin, George now for the truth. Pointing the camera to the ground to lock exposure for the sunset shots. This is what I found when processing!
0 effort for composure.
0 effort for framing.
100% luck!
