Quite enjoying the return of the XT1, only thing that's bugging me is having to go through the menus every time I change lenses. I don't seem to be able to find a way to short cut that procedure.
Anyone?
Anyways, some peacocks from Granite Gorge with the 180ED
Nailed the baby one, and mum, not quite with the dad. Bloody things wouldn't keep still !

Nice work Colin, up at that hour in December in the UK? Er, No thanks !
Andy
It actually was quite mild. Not too cold at all. No need for gloves.
Gusting wind was the biggest problem on those long exposures with a travel tripod.
Well we topped out at 13" of snow as measured on my back deck. Then it switched over to sleet and freezing rain so started to compact the snow. No photos this afternoon. Stayed in watched some football and put the train up under the Christmas tree. May try some shots of that tonight.
Leighton - looks like the freezing rain will miss you this time. So far we still have lights. Fingers crossed the freezing rain has stopped but the wind is picking up.
That is a pretty good snowstorm for this area any time of the year, but especially this early in December.
I'm kind of new here. I've bought/sold a few things on FM in the past, but this is my first contribution to the forums. Hope to find some time to post more. I'm a big fan of AIS Nikkors and have amassed a nice collection (20/2.8, 24/2.8 28/2, 35/1.4, 50/1.2, 85/1.8 HC, 105/2.8, 105/4 Micro)
This is from a few years back while wandering the streets of Detroit.
Df, 20/2.8 AIS, 1/125 @ f/16, ISO 320, handheld, PP in Nik.

C&C welcome.
Tom, Welcome! Nice perspective and I really like your processing. Sky looks great. 👊
Thanks for the likes on my previous images. Really appreciate it.
Since the thread is a little slow on this Sunday evening, I'll post another shot.
Still experimenting with different lens combinations on the Z6. This one with the EL-NIKKOR 135mm f/5.6 mounted on PB-4 Bellows. Trying a little focal plane tilt with the model train under the Christmas tree. Lighting only the lights of the tree. Processed in SEP2.
Thanks George. PP was done in Nik, so I can't take too much credit :-). I forget which preset I used, probably high structure. Nik makes it way too easy sometimes. I will take credit for the perspective. I tried a bunch of different angles. Liked this one the best.
I keep mulling about the difficult lenses. Most difficult of all the 800mm 5.6, what I have found is that focusing with the Z6 is fast and accurate, most of the outcome depends on atmospherics at any distance.
Here are some samples showing the lens is very sharp when mother nature helps with the direction of light, clean and cool air.

Tom,
The fist has a 3-D quality to it since it jumps out right at you. Very nice indeed.

Welcome Tom, great perspective, likes ais nikkors, uses Nik SEP2, yep, you'll fit right in !
I see a gap in your lens inventory though, you need the 180/2.8 ED. Kit building is forever !

I don't even bother anymore with my Fuji. The only thing it's good for is FL.
Thanks Leighton.
Well if it doesn't matter for anything other than knowing what FL I shot a pic with (if I'm understanding you correctly) then I probably won't bother either.
Welcome Tom, you're in trouble now! That small collection is going to grow.

What is your travel tripod Colin?
I needed one for my trip to India and my last one was cheap rubbish, too short and vibrated badly in windy conditions even with a heavy weight hung off the hook under the centre column so I went with a Vanguard Alta Pro 2+ 263AB100.
It has a Multi Angle Centre Column system that can be made horizontal/any angle which I like and is 173cm tall when extended.
Quite long when folded as it's only 3 section legs but just fits in my BlackWolf Cedar Breaks 75L pack (74cm)
Weighs 2.4kg which is fine as my pack is only 14kg (30kg limit with Cathay Pacific)
I have literally no idea if it will be any good for long exposures etc. but have added a carabiner to the head so I can hang a bag off it as the centre column doesn't/can't have a hook due to the MACC system.
Anyone used/owned or had one of these or can recommend a better travel tripod ?
