Got lost with Google Maps looking for this Kobe beef restaurant
Just about sneaked in 5 mins before the last order
Had the place on my notes from 2013 but never got the chance to, glad I made it
Meal was fantastic, wandered around on a full stomach haze
As we all know the MF lenses are tough to use on a D70 but to continue the previous exercise i shot two more using the "Sunny16" rule with the D70. The blue was at a small aperture but it underlines what a breakthrough camera this was.
I don't think this proves anything but that in normal light with a decent lens, as in all things, it's the Indian not the arrow that makes the difference. Hopefully the end of my GAS except for lenses of course!
I'm reminded of my last 4x4 Land Rover Discovery - in 296 000 kilometers Iused low ratio 4WD for a maximum of 10 Km - nice to have but not necessary
Anyone interested in a 300/2.8 in excellent condition? I bought it as an investment until something that I wanted came available... Well, something came available.

For a collector my copy of thelens may have too many miles on it, but it still looks good compared to those I see for sale these days labeled as "Excellent" - this is a very clean lens, especially the glass. Not a mark on it. Some brassing on the carry strap rings and the mount, and some minor surface smoothing of the finish (before my ownership) make it less than mint. Even the "leatherette" lens hood is like new:
It's a rare lens. I think. Most likely used by press photographers and beat up. The majority I see listed for sale loop like they have been in a war zone.
Ai-S 600/4 IF-ED New MIJ 5+ serial numbers 200015 - 202626. 2626 built between March 1986 - 1998
I plan to throw in my DSLR-hacked TC-16a AF teleconverter - works ok for what it is (pre-focus, or on stationary subjects) and give the lens some basic AF capability. Maybe that'll get more people interested in it. I never used that TC on anything other than this lens.
Before I actually list to sell it, I will take another round of photos of it on white background. I'm not really happy with the black on black look for a auction listing. Maybe a few frames, but the primary shots need to be bright. I just need to get two PC sync cable splitters to hook up some additional lights.
Just to bring back some 600mm f/4 MF goodness, several shots from a few years ago that stand out in my memory, showing what this 30 year old lens is all about.
How about a few black and white old barn pictures?
Did a quick trip up to my old home in southern Va to pick up a bundle of old tobacco sticks. My wife has a few craft ideas and I thought it would be a good opportunity before our forecasted snowstorm comes this weekend. Grabbed the camera and 25-50mm f/4 to take with me.
I spent a lot of time as a kid playing in these barns.

Peter O., I love Agapanthus. I have tried unsuccessfully to get them to grow here in Portland.
Ken,
Indeed a beautiful plant. Drainage is the key.
We have flinty soil in north Hampshire that drains reasonably well. Nevertheless we lose some every now and again.
Did you plant yours in a pot?

Colin, I planted them in the ground outdoors. It was a variety that was supposed to be adapted to our climate. Unfortunately, not quite well enough adapted.

That 25-50 f4 Nikkor is one of the truly underappreciated gems. I surely don't need mine, but I keep it around for certain shots.
FYI, I have heard from Jose. He's taking care of his mother after her surgeries, and says that his photography has taken a back burner for the time being.

I haven't been feeling any inspiration lately. I have tried forcing myself to shoot, but the results look ... well sort of forced and uninspired. Also, my 28/2.8 AI-s has oil on the blades for the second time in a year. I hadn't heard of that being a problem with this lens. Anybody else here have that problem?
A couple of troll's eye views with 105/2.5 AI-s on Df.
Ken, these look good to my eye. Nice compositions.

Very nice images George. Good to see the 25-50 is getting some love. I sold mine only because of its size and weight. Loved the images it took and how nicely it rendered them.

Thanks Scott and Joel. It is not too bad on the Z6. Body saves the overall weight of the combination. It handles well with the FTZ adapter. The bottom section of the FTZ (tripod mount) provides a good rest in the palm supporting the camera and lens.
