Nice ones Regina. Yeah that smoke was pretty fugly for sure. I looked outside Friday morning, and said nope, the lawn can wait. Our AQI here was almost 400 that day, but it was sure better than Michigan where it was over 1000

I’ve been out when the AQI was over 400… I can’t imagine what 1000 would be like. That is so awful.

When I moved out to the west coast from central Canada (Toronto area) and experienced lingering wildfire smoke for the first time (i.e., never in Ontario after many decades there, and never during my decade in Newfoundland), I worried that I might have made a bad trade. But now I'm seeing that this troubling climate-related problem is spreading, such that one would need to be deficient in all five senses not to see the trouble we're in. I sure hope these situations start soon to bring about an awakening!

James, building reflections off the glass towers are common in Manhattan specially with the high Sun. One just has to be there at the right time.

Here is another taken shortly before the Chrysler Building photo.

Serge

I love a good reflection photo, and I find these last two of yours very nicely composed, Serge! In fact, I consistently enjoy the images you produce with your humble X-E1. Your shutter actuations on that camera must be approaching GDP numbers for a small country!

In keeping with the reflection theme, here are a few reflections in vintage automobiles at Hot August Nights, 2025, by way of my Fuji X-T4 and 25-50 f/4 Ai-s.

Serge, I think we are referring to different reflections. The building on the right is a straight reflection, but the building on the left is an optical distortion (moire pattern) of the same building in the center of the frame in the distance. The bands and grids between the rows on the left side building. In Australia in 2007 I noticed a weird distortion on a glass building that I titled "The Tower of Babel".

Tower of Babel LINK

James, I did think you were referring to the Chrysler Building reflection.

The left side of the photo does resemble to the "Tower of Babel" image. Thanks for the link and clarification, I was not paying much attention to the left side of the photo.

The Chapel of the Princes is something else. Not long ago it was not a hot tourist destination, it is today. Glad you enjoyed the photos.

Thanks, Glen.

The X-E1 has done a bit of travel and has seen some nasty weather. It is a tough little camera that just keeps on ticking. It is super easy on the shoulder when carrying the bag around for 8+ hours daily.

The shutter count comment is darn funny, good one!

Great classic car photos, I sure did miss them.

Serge

Giving things a little push. In the back yard yesterday. A full resolution cropping (1144 x 631), taken with the 105mm f/2.5. Of course, Flickr and your browser are resizing it anyway.

Morten, Can you tell us a bit about that first shot? My dentist has a machine that mills crowns with that level of detail, but a finger tip is so striking that it is art - imo.

It was part of an art exhibition - it did look like clay but I'm not sure at all. Here's few more (also with the 50/1.2)

Thanks. The Pen F + 7.5mm fisheye shows it well. I tried all my fisheyes on the Pen F and Pen FT - great fun!
