Peter, really nice Milky Way shot. I tried this weekend on a place with very little light pollution, but it was too cloudy/foggy..Camp on top looks great. You probably had too search for a good tent place??

Not a lot of flat ground up on Mount Whitney. This is the sole spot near the summit, and it fits a one man tent only. On the other hand, these boulders are excellent wind protection in this exposed location. I was all worried at times that gusts could blow away my tent when I wasn't in it, as only two or three tent pegs were in the sandy ground.

Sounds like a really cool experience. I wish I was closer to the swedish mountains and get out on more adventures like that. I need to start planning for next trip
The 50/1.4 SC does not appear to be a popular lens but have been very pleased with it. It is quite a looker as well.

Serge
I know. It's not very popular at all. I sold mine, dont know why, it was such a lovely lens....I miss it.
But this last 2 years I've been going through most of nikon 50mm lenses, with exception for the newer and very expensive ones. Next up could be the older Nikkor-H 50mm f/2.0..

well, I am about 1950 miles from the Sierra. Part of the adventure is getting there, although I really could do with out Iowa, Nebraska and Eastern Colorado...
I've used the old nikkors on Sony, Fuji, Leica and now Canon - this will probably get me barred but this is the 5.8cm f1.4S that Rafael forced me to buy on the Canon M50.
Huss, love the grain! What film was that? Nikon F and 45 GN must be a cool looking combination.
Ben, smashing return to the thread!! If you are banned I will be too. I was toting two different Canons over the last couple days, with Nikon RF lenses. Will have to wait for the film scans to see how the illicit alliance worked.

Hi, Kristian:
I am guilty of having a few of the 50 MF Nikkors including the H-50 f/2. The H paints differently compared to the others with a more subdued look, at least on the Fuji X-E1. It is a great little lens that I think you will enjoy plus very easy on the wallet.
I am not sure why the 50/1.4 SC is overlooked. Perhaps is due to the fact that Ai converted examples are hard to find plus the AIs versions are so plentiful.
Gus and Karma overlooking breakfast for the sheep. FWIW, you have to lock the sheep out while filling the feeders, otherwise, they will knock you down trying to get to the feed bucket. There's a catch on the gate and you stand to one side when it comes open or else!
A lot of folks have sheep pictured as gentle farm animals. NOT when there's food involved!

Serge, how to you compare the 50/2 to the 55mm 2.8 on the Fuji?

Hi, Leighton:
Good question as both are very nice lenses.
For general purpose photography on a small Fuji body, I usually opt for the 50/2 K/Ai due to their small size and considerably shorter focus throw. The 55/2.8 has the advantage a much closer minimum focus distance and less distortion but have not found the slight barrel distortion of the 50/2 to be anything to worry about.
The 50/2 produces nicely saturated colors with the X-E1 and contrast & sharpness increases rapidly @ f/2.8. It is certainly usable @ f/2 where the center is acceptably sharp. I find the 50/2 to be also nicely resistant to flare.
For portraits, I lean towards the 50/2 where @ f/2 it provides a softer look compared to the 55/2.8. As you know, the 55/2.8 is a darn sharp lens everywhere.
Leighton, if you snag a great sample of the 50/2, I think you will enjoy it. They are different lenses but the little 50 does provide the ability to be used at f/2 where it can open some creative opportunities.
Great B&W photo of the sheep at the breakfast table.

Thanks!
That is Fuji C200 converted to B&W in LR.
What is interesting is the Flickr shrinking/resizing algorithm makes it look grainier/contrastier than it actually is.

I have always loved the 55 micro, everything about it. But there's a certain rendering I see when people post images from the 50 f2 that I like. I'll have to think about getting one day. Thanks for your thoughts.
