Bummer, Eike! I try to keep the batteries out of the D200 cause I know that camera drains them even if not in use. Hopefully there's another trip there in the near future!

Today I went with my boys to an aircraft museum which is housed in an underground former air force base close to the city of Gothenburg on the West Coast of Sweden.
Inspired by Rafael's photos I took the AI 16 F3.5 fisheye with me. Sadly my battery was empty after a few shots and I had neglected to bring a spare.
Nope you didn't. What IS that above her head? Caterpillar? I'm still shocked you don't have a flower shot...

I didn't try very hard, did I...
To make up for it one photo from the brief shoot I did this afternoon for a friend who is very photogenic. When she noted how unhappy she is with photos of herself, I offered to take a few. This was shot with the 85 f/1.4 AI-s.
Here's one of my favorite pictures with the 55 1.2S. Its on film - Portra 800, so I can't be sure of the aperture, but it was either f1.2 or 2. I do have the 55 1.2K also, since then. Certainly the newer coatings help in some situations, but the older S is no slouch at all.

HI, NIghtOwl Cat:
I had the same issue with the S5 Pro, the same body as your D200. The following solved the issue and perhaps may be of help to you.
Dipped Q-Tips in DeoxIT D100L and cleaned the camera's battery contacts plus the inside of the battery door. Also cleaned the contacts of all my batteries. Only need to a tiny amount of the cleaner on the end of the Q-Tip and repeat as necessary.
I also had to remove the battery from the S5 due to drain but no longer after this very easy procedure.
Heck this discussion on the 55 1.2 is making me really look back at some of the older pictures I have with it. Apparently one can do runway work with it too, and that too nearly at full aperture:
The 55 1.2S, along with the 10.5cm f2.5 P 9 bladed version, were the two lenses that really sucked me into the vintage manual Nikkor world. Haven't been able to get out of it since
Thanks for the tip, Serge! I'm pretty certain that the D200 just has that problem across the board, but I'll give this a shot. I'm using a grip on my D200. The only camera I don't have a grip for, if it's not a pro body, is my D50

You are right about the issue with the D200 bodies. I was frustrated with the same on the S5 and figured there had to be a solution somewhere. I stumbled across a YouTube tutorial specifically addressing the D200 power drain and to my surprise, it worked. Some go as far as replacing the battery door which are available new OEM for around 9 bucks from fleaBay.
An added benefit was by cleaning the contacts of some old OEM S5 batteries, they came back to life.
The battery grip certainly helps with these power hungry CCD sensors.

Thank you Laura, it seems like yesterday, I will repeat this posting with my current line up, have added the 7.5mm, another 16mm 3.5, and another 20mm UD.
