George, I would think 9" in a day is a fairly big deal most places not in the rockies, or the great lakes snowbelt. Good to see you taking advantage of it. Good luck on the Df repair, will be interested in your personal experience with the repair service center; your pre-service experience reads great.
Will do Ray. I actually just received a shipping notification from UPS. Looks like it is being packed up for a Monday return delivery. Very fast service for a repair like that.
It's nice to see this place picking up its pace again, and it's great to see some new arrivals in the thread. Welcome to our little home-away-from-home, Raul and "shujert." While it's wise to heed the warnings about the magnetic pull to acquire a collection of MF Nikon lenses (MFNG) that will very likely take hold of you as you participate in this thread, it is also important to keep two mitigating factors in mind about this: 1) MFNG is one heckuvalot less expensive than AFNG; 2) for the most part, MFNG retains its value and might even increase in value over time. (By the way, don't let Laura's post mislead you into believing that Curtis is the only enabler on this thread; we are all quite skilled in this regard! However, we do revere Curtis' skills as especially advanced. He's sort of our MFNAS guru. )
Here are my final three images from the summer of 2017, showing some Vancouver Island shorebirds as viewed through the 180 f/2.8 Ai-s together with the TC-14A mounted on my Fuji X-T2. Processing is courtesy of LRCC and SEP2.

Very natural contrast and colors. I have been interested in a 105mm for some time. From what I am seeing I can skip the expensive MF glass.
Are you aware of this excellent reference site?
If not, then bookmark it now.

Jarquin,
As others have said - the 105s are super lenses. Works well with tubes too.
Thank you everyone for the links to Nikon classic lens information sites (wow) and the beautiful sample images. I am now actively searching for the right copy of the 105. I hope to contribute images to this great thread soon.
Speaking of the 105/2.5 ais, here are a few made with that lens.
While long exposures, with movement, aren't the best way to judge the technical qualities of this fine lens, I've always enjoyed the way it renders colors. Hopefully, that comes out, just a bit, in these night shots.
