Was venturing out post lunch on my way back to work on a rainy day and found this Juvenile Cooper's Hawk waiting it out. Rushed back home and got my D610 mounted with the Nikkor 300mm f4.5 H to capture this. This lens is pretty bad in terms of color fringe and I had to battle it out to clear them on those branches. Still not bad for a backyard shot. Juvenile Cooper's Hawk by Ramkumar Sangameshwar, on Flickr
I haven’t been shooting much lately. Today I visited an old friend and took along the Df with a “nifty fifty,” the 50/2 H that was my first lens. In a pub, available light, f/2.8.
Kristian, thanks, I'm liking it, and it seems like it is pretty sharp throughout. It was never a focal length I immediately grabbed, something made me pick it up though and I'm glad I did. I need to remember to bring my fold-able step stool with me next time though.so when I have the tripod up to shoot those shots, I'm not trying to squint through bifocals at live view
And yes, always NIKON camera, NIKON lens (I do have a couple Rokinon though)

Laura, nice plane shots. What do you think about the 35/2.0 ais?

Some "plane" views of a furniture makers shop. Taken with the 25-50 f4 Ais. Thanks for looking.

Nice - I can almost smell the wood. Reminds me of my father's workshop. His was not as tidy though.
After he retired I seconded a few of his large wood planes. They are waiting to be stripped back and smartened up.

Ram, love your pano from Brooklyn with the 45mm. Was this shot with the D40? Great shot of that hawk too
Yes. All the NYC shots were taken with the D40. Its a nice camera for daytime shots. Only complaint is the ISO but if you don't intend for anything high speed it's no slouch.

Yeah, it looks really good! I actually have one. I bought one used, nearly mint. But I´ve actually never used it... I think I´ll teach my 7 year old son how to use it.

Happy New Year everyone.. Excited and happy to be back in Georgia after couple of freezing week in North East. Went to Boston, New York, New Jersey for the holidays. I do have pictures to share now. I will be posting them shortly. I went with two lenses 45mm f2.8P and a Rokinon 85mm f1.4 connected to a D40. So I didnt have much wide angle choices but I tried to do the best with what I had.

A general question for our MF friends. I am planning for a trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton this May. I have the ability for taking two check-in bags but confused on what lenses to take for the trip.
We might have a RV with us but I am not sure how much we might have to walk for shots.
I am trying to cover it all -> Landscape (wide), Wildlife (tele), Nightscapes with stars.
What a wonderful trip! I have been and enjoyed several times!
Definitely the widest you have, even if it’s AF, you”ll want wide wide for some of the geyser features. Middle basin is such a cool place, I get lost there when I go! Even walking all around the Old faithful area will yield awesome opportunities. Coverage in your mid zones like a 24/28, 50, 105 and 135 will be helpful. Then a long lens, as high a quality as you can cobble together for wildlife. Elk, Moose, Bears, ect.. definitely The trails in the Tetons are wonderful, lake Jenny, And the waterfall upper and lower falls in Yellowstone.
Then there are all kinds of waterfalls you can do sprinkled around in the Tetons. So much to see and do, been there 5 times and never got bored! Research it all well if you can! Tetons at sunrise, Teton barns at sunrise.. so many opportunities you can’t get them all in a single. Visit!

Thanks for the heads up George. Did you send the camera to APS or Nikon? Did you have a conversation with anyone about what happened and how it might be resolved? I guess those of us shooting with the Df are interested in this topic. I recall when I was considering the Df and asking questions on the thread, mentioning an interest in a leather case. I think it was Mark A who noted the way the card is inserted is awkward and the leather case might exacerbate the issue. I did buy the camera but never got the case. It is a bit tight inserting the card but up until now I've not had a problem. Your post definitely has me taking a closer look at my SD cards. I appreciate that....Show more →
This was half case and strap I ended up with, like it a lot better than the Garez. It is still restive though getting the card out... I just use tweezers now to get it out safely.
The surge of likes was me catching up, looks like I missed the 50’s fun.. I have quite a few, lol. I started a new job late November and have a much longer commute now, so barely time to shoot as I hit the road at 6am and get home around 5 pm. I will have some great opportunities ahead though!
I did buy the 200 F/2 Ais but only tested it on the cat so far, just no time. Looks like while it’s a beast, it will be an amazing lens!
I had plans to get out and brave the cold here and shoot a bit, but Friday afternoon I got the flu bug and am down and out for this weekend. Soon I will be working 4 10’s a week and have a longer weekend and will have time, especially when the days start getting longer.
Some fine work by all while I have been away, glad I took time to catch up!
George, really sorry to hear about the DF, I use APS sometimes for Nikon repair work, they have done great work at reasonable prices and are Nikon authorized. Did I see a Leica logo on that last DF shot? Did you pick up an M?
Been a while since I came across some MF frames. From late June at Road America. Media access lets you get close enough to put the fisheye lens on the camera. Not quite close enough for full frame, but on the DX D500 this makes a nice 20-24mm abouts lens with good sharpness. Doesn't help much that the cars take that corner at 90mph...
