Rafael, I agree with your sentiments, there is no reason for such mayhem.
These images are fabulous BTW, very engaging!

Love to see Ben so engaged.
I have a coworker in my team who was at the Vegas concert, he did not work yesterday, came into work today trying his best to be calm but it was easy to tell he is still shell shocked. I told him how happy I was he made it out unscathed but there was true emotional harm done to him, and to all of us in differing degrees.
I cannot understand how a person would want to harm strangers that have done no harm to him. Makes you think evil incarnates. Evils exists, so does Good.
To those in pain I extend my condolences, I feel your pain.
Steve - Would love to see more pics of the Banqueting House - I was so sorry that I had to cut my UK trip short and missed out on going to Birmingham, and Leeds, and.....oh hell....I wanted to see the entire north of England
Rafael - that's a great pic.....but it doesn't make me want to get off my high Roman horse - it just makes me think I should go to the gym more.
My nikkor 5cm f2H arrived today. I knew it was going to be small but I had no idea it was so tiny: this is it with the 50mm f1.8 and the 50mm f2 (and the 55 f1.2). The 50s are pretty small but this is tiny next them.
I also took a couple of test shots - they're just test shots: the first is wide open and the second is at f4 (it seems to sharpen up a lot stopped down)

Ben made me do it! I am getting hold of one too - the 5cm f2 Leica mount. Although mine will be used on a camera it was intended for, a Leica III
so it's my fault....really??...can't we blame Curtis? I take my hat off to you Samy if you can use it on the Leica III. I don't think I could ever get focus on that little rangefinder. And film - with my fail rate I'd be broke in a month. We can compare notes when it arrives.
Enjoy the lens - mine is a 5cm f2 S lens that preceded the H by a year or two. There's also a different number of elements but I'm sure that was a technical improvement at the time.

Cheers, mate.
Peter - yours is even earlier? does it look the same? Mine has a "NIcca" lens cap - if that's the original lens cap it would suggest it's native camera would have been one of the Nicca rangefinders from the late 40s to late 50s. Not that it matters - it's a Leica and Sony lens now.

Peter..... don't worry about offending me, I was not at all upset by your comments, quite the contrary, I appreciated the dig, but I've got to say, I would never dare call you by that "s" word you used . It's interesting how fashions in usage change - I don't hear it anymore, here it's regarded as a bridge too far.
Raphael - yes, the Romans were never in the US - but of course the Italians were - a certain Christoforo Colombo was fairly significant, and of course the country was named after another Italian explorers - but that's not the point - you're doing a Philippe and trying to distract from the issue. And no, I've nothing to say on the Catalan referendum - except, wow, we live in interesting times.
But right now my attention and my sympathies go to Las Vegas. Terrible news.

No Ben I doubt that it's older. Your lens is a rangefinder lens while mine was the first of the lenses specially made for SLRs . To confuse us Nikon named the successor 50mm f2 the "H " .
From casualphotophile.com " The Nikkor-H.C. 5cm f/2 is one in a long line of Japanese lenses made specifically for Leica Thread Mount, otherwise known as LTM or M39 mount. These lenses also fit onto countless post-war Leica copies; think Nicca, Tower, Leotax, etc., and this pairing of a Leica copy with a Nikkor was a simple, cheap stand-in for genuine Leica III’s and their Summicrons. Perfect for the average consumer."
Peter - that's a hoot, the author says I've got the " simple cheap stand in". Actually they're not that cheap anymore. The prices for the more sought after lenses, like the 5cm f1.4 and the 8.5cm f2 are going through the roof. But at least my 13,5cm was only $150. Don't know how long that will last.
It's all about inspiration on this thread! Seeing Ken Hill's Sekonic meter got me to look in my dad's old camera "case" and I found a Sekonic L-8 meter that still works (after calibration).
As my trusty old D70 has no metering with MF glass i took it out with the 50mm f2 lens and got these at the beach. Very high spring tide.
Slow going lately, so I was able to ketchup on what has been written nd posted these past few days.
Something else I have been pondering about, was the lens hood on the 300 mm lens. It's really short, and when I was photographing a backlit image a few weeks ago, I found that the lens did not handle direct sunlight all that well. So I needed a deeper lens hood. At this angle of view, not much of a problem, or so I thought.
The amount of aftermarket solutions was limited, to say it kindly. So I decided to go the DIY route. My first thought was to pick up a metal pipe, but the weight quickly made me decide otherwise. Instead I picked up this:
A 6" PVC connection for sewage systems. To make it fit on the lens, I ordered a 1/4" self adhesive rubber seal as used in car doors. A simple D profile worked well enough. Th ebenefits in this approach, it doesn't add a signficant amount of weight, and does not take a lot of space. If lost, it's easy to replace as I still have 6ft of the seal left

Thankfully summer's comin'.
Peter, my summer is going away and good riddance, winter in Socal is better than summer.

Geez, why did you have to do that?
Have a minty one on the way now, made a low ball offer and they surprisingly accepted. So now we will see what I actually get and if it matches the photos. Picked up the adapter too.
