Nice collection, though I think I see some very purposeful use cases for each grouping. I think you're still in the mildly infected GAS category. We'll see if the collection photographs show up here soon.
I do think you need more 85mm, the this thread's Nikki (85mm f.18 HC I think) is in order.
85mm is def my favorite focal length and I have consider the Nikkor Auto H.C 85mm f1.8

Yes, the 85/1.8 always attracted me, and it had a great reputation (especially compared to the replacement 85/2). I ended up finding an 85/1.4 AiS for a reasonable price, but find it a bit of a chore to carry it around, and nailing focus at f/1.4 is a challenge, so it doesn't get much use (especially as I also own the AF-D version).
When I was hunting for the 85/1.8, I was looking for the so-called K version, which like all the 85/1.8's was non-AI, but did have a factory AI conversion kit (#37). Personally, I would go for the factory-AI'd K over the H.C. (which takes conversion kit #38 from serial #219901 and up), but that's just me. (must NOT look on eBay for this lens)

I have heard that the 85mm f/2 has a lesser reputation, but so far in my usage I don't understand why (maybe if I had the 1.8 to compare it to?). I've only used it a couple of times so far but I've been really happy with the output.

I agree the 85/1.4 ai-s is hard to nail focus at @1.4 but it is soooo nice when it does
Still very nice bokeh @f/2
Somehow I get more keepers with the 105/1.8 ai-s and it is a stunning lens too - and a beauty IMHO

Morten, I agree that the 105/1.8 is superiour to the 85/1.4 (at least IMO). When I picked up the 85/1.4 AiS there was a bit of a glut on the market (due to the release of the AF-D) so I got one at a great price. My heart wanted the 105/1.8, but it was much more expensive. Later on, with the release of the 105/2 DC, the 105/1.8 prices finally started dropping and I was able to pick one up. I really love the 105/1.8 (though as many point out, the f/2.5 lens is pretty much the same quality from f/4 on, and a LOT lighter). I think the 105/1.8 is pretty much the most beautiful MF lens I own, especially mounted on my F3/T "champagne"

I've never tried either of the "slower" 85's, but before I got my f/1.4, I studied all the reviews and comparisons. The f/2 version is supposedly quite soft wide-open (which is probably OK for a medium portrait lens, but not so good for landscapes), and the f/1.8 is superiour at f/2 and down. The 85/1.4 is the ultimate performer compared to the slower lenses, great at every aperture including wide-open.
I found more slides from the old days, scanned about 4 dozen. These are mostly from 1971 to 1973. There are more which I haven't had time to scan yet. The trouble is, I can't be sure what camera I used for some. I bought the Nikkormat some time in late 1971, I think, maybe early 1972. Anyway, I offer these with the confession that they may not be legit.
In July 1972 I drove from Richmond up to D.C. to see the fireworks on the Mall.
Early afternoon, people are gathering.
Part of that trip was to visit a few other interesting places. The Great Falls Of the Potomac, just west of D.C.
Fresh out of college and unexpectedly released from other expectations I found work as a public school teacher, the first year at a junior high school. Every year the science department head would organize a late-spring field trip to see various geological formations, culminating at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, Green Bank, West Virginia. Here's a sample of some of the impressive hardware.
They detected neither aliens nor Sasquatch while we were there. But I recall one of the scientists saying they could detect every time someone a few miles away turned on a toaster.
These pics would have been with my original "kit" 50mm f/1.4.
This was an unexpected brief stop on a bus tour. There was no time to do the village any real justice which requires quite a bit of climbing.
Setenil de las Bodegas, famous for its white dwellings carved on the slope of a basalt cliff. Several streets were built into the rock walls by exploiting natural depressions. The population is around 3,000 but gets a lot of tourist traffic being relatively near Sevilla and Malaga.
Calle Cuevas del Sol, the main street lined with restaurants and small shops.
Tiny stone bridge over a small creek. It was quite a bit colder here compared to Malaga.

This is one pretty lens, silky smooth focusing thanks to its brass helicoids.
Both camera and lens looked practically unused. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/55147306140_f05b2c849f_h.jpg

Beautiful piece of kit! If I had a non-AI native body, the 58/1.4 in mint condition would be on my shortlist for sure: Congratulations on your purchase.
