So first a note, sorry to disappoint, but the 105 PC is not perspective control. It refers to penta – five elements and coated, meaning it’s a later non AI lens. Still a great lens with basically the same optics as the later AIS.
To the rest of your questions, the answer is obviously to use it! If you don’t want to mess with developing, I like Ilford, XP two as a C 41 process black-and-white that you can take to any lab and have them develop. I’ve always been tempted to shoot and develop my own black-and-white, but never have the time or space for the chemicals, etc. That said if you want to dive in, that’s always sounded like a worthwhile endeavor.

I have that problem every so often too. But it comes in handy on occasion.

Thanks. BTW, I had to look up the WAF acronym. Haven't encountered it before!
You are right about Lexicon. They had lost their managerial way before I left, one of reasons I left.
Now, we are supposed to be talking about devices to create something we can see, not something we can hear. Which brings this back around to MFNG. My sweetie and I played a music festival this past weekend and got a chance to visit with an old friend who had been in our band several decades ago. In the past he has been an avid photographer, amateur and semi-pro, mostly shooting artsy b&w, all on film, for different kinds of jobs. So we got to talking about cameras. His preferred is a Leica M4-P. I mentioned how I wasn't sure what to do with my beloved Nikkormat. Then he offered me all his Nikon stuff he will never use again. The next day he sent me this list and we settled on a nominal price:
Nikon F2 Body, 8052369 (1980) w/DE1 non-metered plain prism finder. Camera needs light seal replacement, I’m including a kit for that—it’s easier than it seems. There is a strange blur in the prism, but it shouldn’t hamper your fun.
Nikon F Photomic FTn Body, 7304441 (1973) metered finder 664315 (good luck finding batteries for it… it took mercury coin batteries, there are adapters available online if you wish (I always used a handheld meter or just guessed). Nice working condition except speeds below 1/8 get stuck. You can turn the shutter knob and the mirror will snap back into place.
All the lenses are non-AI, ...
NAI Nikkor S, 50/1.4, s/n 876511 (Nippon Kogaku)
NAI Micro-Nikkor, 55/3.5 s/n202147 (Nippon Kogaku) (Nice Lens!!)
NAI Nikkor H-C, 50/2 s/n 2204333
NAI Nikkor H, 28/3.5 s/n333501 (Nippon Kogaku) an old and very cool lens!
NAI Nikkor PC 105/2.5 s/n 507253 w/reversible hood... Its macho speaks for itself!
Filters
52mm Y48 yellow Nippon Kogaku
52mm L39 Skylight
52mm Close up #2
52mm Polarizer
52mm Tiffen Polarizer
And a book to nerd out on ("Nikon F Nikkormat Handbook Of Photography", Cooper & Abbott)
Plus he "may throw in a old Luna Pro meter" which also uses an obsolete battery.
I haven't looked up the SN's yet but the lenses appear to be of similar vintage to what I already own. Edit: By the SN's the lenses are generally older than mine, so there may be a rendering difference, not that I would notice. His 50 f/1.4 is the same as I bought with my Nikkormat, when the 50 f/2 was the cheaper alternative. I wouldn't know what to do with three 50's plus two 55's. His 105 is a PC, interesting if only for the experience. The 28 is a FL I have never experienced but could have used ages ago. I suppose I could put two 50's and a 55 on the film camera bodies, leaving one 50 to swap onto the Z when appropriate.
As for the bodies, such an embarrassment of riches which aren't very useful! While I'd been thinking about my Nikkormat and film and meter battery, two more bodies drop into my lap, functional but flawed. I could put different films in them. Attempting to fix the F2 might be fun. I'm not sure about the filters.
So I ask you kind folks what I should do with everything. Lens selection? Film? What meter batteries do you use?
Do I turn left or right, or just go straight? I am lost at sea....Show more →
