Windy is a similar smartphone app, I find it pretty handy and useful.

Thanks for the likes and comments everyone!

The D800e had been gathering dust since months so took her out last weekend. Somehow all of the color shots ended up overexposed(AP-Matrix metering). Tried spot but made no difference.
Wonder if this is metering or the guy behind the finder to blame?

Some of the salvageable ones - D800e and 85 f/2 AIS, wide open

Loving what I am seeing. Love all the LtZīs, Benzīs and now the Kenzīs. Great theme Iīm not quite ready to jump omboard..
Great work everyone!!

Today I have some stuff for especially for Leighton. Not shot with the Leighton lens though. But near.
Itīs harvesting time here in south Sweden. The organic farmers here are dedicating two days with special activities for visitors on the farms. We went to our favourite farm and hereīs a few shots I took.
All with the Nikkor-H.C 85mm f/1.8:

Part of a research project investigating organic farming and butterfly larvaes in combinations with different flowers. Dont know the whole story about the project but I guess it has to do something with keeping the larvaes on the flowers instead of the crops.

i did this theater shoot with iso on auto and a minimum shutter speed of 1/160, this was a mistake as the camera kept shooting at 1/160 the whole event with iso between 800 and 6400, get better results with setting and iso between 1600 and 3200 depending on ligh, then the shutter speed would be faster often, and the processing more consistent, also any ispo over 3200 I just do not like the results.

Here are two at 6400, the first with off the cuff processing, the second after much experimentation.

Many, many excellent photos over the last 6-8 pages. Thanks for the comments, and likes. I tried doing something I expected wouldn't work well, and it didn't. I stacked a 1.4A Nikon TC and a Tamron 1.4x TC with the 300 and shot the moon. Not so good...

I'm interested in the "Benz" talk. It reminds me of the work of Francois Benveniste, and the way he described his 80% black mask many years ago. He called it a "negative mask", and essentially he added the layer in PS, and then used a soft eraser brush with a low opacity setting to reveal more of the background layer. (by erasing the overlaying layer incrementally) I thought Ben was using some "preset"? *or is it a nod to Benveniste? Just curious here.

Speaking of weed. The farm also had a huge area on which he grows hemp on (no it's not the cigar type you'll turn green of ) . He is making a great deal of money selling hemp seed oil and also he is making his own 'hempcrete' to build a new barn. It's supposed to be a really good building material. It was an interesting day

James - the "Benz" look usually doesn't involve presets - that's street candids shot from the hip, but the "Ben" look, the dark chiaroscuro does involve presets. For the "ben" shots I tend to use presets that darken the shadows but also bring up the darks slightly so that the details are blurred and it's just light and dark.

Now that we've had Kenz, I'm looking forward to the Reaganz, and Leightonz and Curtiz.

Colin - love the National Gallery pics - wish I was there.

ben
btw James - you say the moon shot's not very good but I think it's very dramatic.

So happy to have had 'Leighton's lens' (50-135mm/3.5) with me on vacation. Took it to an open-air concert of Ben Harper adjacent to the Mediterranean Sea in Catalunya (northeastern Spain). Was confined to my seat. Mounted to Df.

My family is away, rather than moping at home went to the air and space museum at Balboa Park.

The air and space museum has a lot of interesting exhibits in a time sequence, it is small and crowded with artifacts, so the 15mm helps here.

Sorry to hear that Ben. One way of dealing with such issues is to carefully remove the glass from the damaed filter, then use pliers to break away the filter ring towards the inside of the thread. Be careful not to scratch the front element. Using a jewelers saw to carve in the filter ring on desired break points helps greatly in reducing the amount of force needed

Buddy - that's a great suggestion - unfortunately I lack both the tools and skills to even think about attempting such a thing.....still, it's driving me crazy so I'm going to take it to someone to do it for me.

postscript: Buddy - I did it. All I had was a pair of pliers - I worked the edges off the filter, then popped the glass out, then pulled and twisted the ring away from the lens. Other than one small scratch to the rim of the body of the lens - no damage.
