Good to hear you have a date Laura, hope all goes well.
I 2nd the suggestion that Kevin gets another shot at Nippi providing it suits the schedule and routing if Glen is in agreement (and Rafael of course). We're in no rush are we?
Another shot from Haast Pass. The bridge carries the road, the campsite is just after the bridge to the left of shot. The Haast River is typical shallow glacial flow, clear with the nice aquamarine tint. I walked along it's edge in my neoprene waders and turned up the 2nd creek rather than bush bash to get to the spectacular waterfall I posted recently.

Well, Nippi finally arrived here yesterday after first being shipped by Laura on September 24. Due to the causal series of postal delays, the result is that the lens arrived at the end of my vacation weeks, with a forecast of rain for the entire upcoming weekend, followed by the notoriously worst month of the year for weather in this part of the world, when the days are too short to allow after-work shooting. It appears that God is on vacation and has been temporarily replaced by an imp named Murphy!
While I await a break in the bad weather, here are a few photos of Nippi on the camera where the lens will spend most of November (with the possible exception of some time on the X-T2 for some IR activity, if the sun shows up on a weekend ). These images were shot with the 55 f/2.8 Ai-s on my wonderful D800E....Show more →
Familiar looking lens Glen Look forward to seeing your takes with it.
I took a little time off of work and rode part of the Palmetto Trail and adjoining mountain bike trails in Upstate South Carolina yesterday. Had the Z8 and tiny LTM Nikkor 2.5cm lens in my pack. A couple golden shots below. Lightroom iPad processed

Laura, great photographs from Ireland specially the Long Room. Glad to hear you arrived home safe and sound, time to start planning the next stamp on your passport.
James, congratulations on the new 55/1.2, nice colors.
Ray, thanks for the compliment.
I will try to hunt down some fall colors this weekend.
Spotted a few photos from Edinburgh that I never got around to tweaking.
The Royal Mile, the blue sky never lasted long.
The Adam Smith monument and St. Giles Cathedral at right:
Leighton, here some early fall color from Maine. The red leaf was suspended from a single spider web strand. It spun and danced in the light air. It was fun to watch. All taken with the 85 f2 Ai. Thanks for looking.

HAHAHA... does that mean you eat commercial pet food?
I now have three outdoor cats that momma cat brought around, and has seemingly vanished. I'm sure she's still somewhere around here, but the three have shiny coats now, and swarm me any time I go out the door. I make sure to feed them before I leave for work so I know they aren't under the car. When I come home, they swarm the driveway and I thank the backup camera for letting me see them back there.
Believe me, I have thought about it. If I could get him on an easier for me to provide diet it would make my life simplier. As it is - I have been making his food every 10-14 days for the last six years.

Oh, and my surgery has now been scheduled, 12 Feb 25. Not that far away. Voice mail popped up when I turned my cell phone service back on telling me that they had a date that they could coordinate the spine surgeon and the vascular surgeon....
Vascular surgeon moves things aside for the spine surgeon to get at the spine from the front. After closing up front, they flip me over and go in through the back for more work.
Three months minimum out of work.
Step away for a few years and the kids get into all kinds of trouble. Really sorry to hear this is where your journey has taken you Laura. I recall you having back issues but had no idea it had become this serious. I've heard of surgery on the spine requiring the protocol you describe. Definitely not for the faint of heart. I'm guessing your experience working in the hospital gives you a better perspective on it all. I know we'll all be cheering for you and I imagine you'll have plenty of support in your family and community. Your cats will be wondering who all those strangers are that keep feeding them. I can't imagine you'll be doing that for awhile. Keep us informed as things progress.
