Kevin, you need another crack at Nippi after getting your Z5 squared away. Reminds me I need to get the 10.5CM out for some exercise… 105mm till then:
I really like the symmetry in these. Nicely seen. The boat tied is excellent!
I wouldn’t pass up another round of Nippi. I’m shooting some behind the scenes photos for my daughter’s play and Nippi would be great for some headshots.
Lovely set Leighton. Incredible fall colors, unlike anything we see here. I imagine that cemetery has been around for a few years. I always find it fascinating to read headstones and imagine what their world was like. Jame's observation does raise a question. Perhaps the spaces under the tree cost a premium and rather than outsiders, it attracted the well-to-do.

Buddy, great shots, and good to see you again. Are you going to get Anouk into MF Nikkors :-)
Laura, thanks for sharing pics from your journey to Ireland. Can't wait to see more on your return with time for processing. Glad to hear of the great time you had.
Siphiwe, this last shot with the D7000 / 55mm is simply wonderful, love the tonality and the great details you've captured.
Leighton, I don't suppose you miss lambing season do you? Wonderful portrait!
Phong, love what you captured with the restaurant and mirrors. Took awhile to digest the scene.
A little late, Serge, but what a great One World Trade Center with the reflected clouds.
Colin, keep posting the Italian shots. I'm enjoying the virtual travel just like Leighton....Show more →
Thank you very much, Raymond. D7000 output has that thing that makes me happy. I hadn't thought of mounting a MF lens on it until this time.

After being up for 26 hours, I finally got some sleep here. Back to reality (work) tomorrow, boo hiss. At O'Hare, the flight to Dayton was overbooked, and they were offering vouchers to volunteers. First they were offering $200. By the time the flight was boarding, they were up to $1250. Only good for a year. I wasn't waiting for any more flights. They wound up involuntarily bumping the last two late check-ins (they go by what time you checked in so use that button on your airline's app for early check-in!!)
At Dublin, I was one of the lucky ones to be selected for additional security screening, both by their version of TSA and US Customs. The attendant wheeling me through had to put her stuff in a bin too. Glad I kept my shoehorn with me so I could get my shoes on faster. Pat-downs were done in public, no separate room while they did that. Paying for Global Entry doesn't keep you from getting selected for these fun side trips. Barely made it to the plane on time.
Yes, I had wheelchair assistance this trip in the airports, and glad I did. I would have not been able to walk all that distance. When I got off at Dublin, there was no assistance and I walked and walked and walked and walked, getting out of the way of the speedier walkers and resting several times. Still aggravating to not be able to walk it myself though....Show more →
Airports are long walks nowadays, glad you had the assistance you needed at least on the way back. Welcome back home!
If I had been later in checking in, I'd have taken them up on the $1250 and given it to my daughter. I probably would have napped in my seat till the next flight about two hours later...

Glad you made it home unscathed. What a trip!
HAHAHA... does that mean you eat commercial pet food?
I now have three outdoor cats that momma cat brought around, and has seemingly vanished. I'm sure she's still somewhere around here, but the three have shiny coats now, and swarm me any time I go out the door. I make sure to feed them before I leave for work so I know they aren't under the car. When I come home, they swarm the driveway and I thank the backup camera for letting me see them back there.

At 8pm sharp Hamish comes into the living room and stares at me like this. Roughly translates to "FEED ME". This from the limp, seemly dead feral kitten that momma cat abandoned on our picnic table. He refused to eat anything for almost two weeks which required us to feed him goat milk with an eye-dropper. Then I tried a slice of deli ham and that woke up his appetite. He still refuses to eat any commercial pet food, but if he sees me eat it - that's what he wants. Squash, carrots, onions, lettuce, pizza, potato, peas - anything I eat he will try. My random guess is that they purchased that plot then planted those trees. If I was to be buried in a regular cemetery that's what I would have done.

Leighton,
This is a seemingly odd comment. The grave marker way over yonder by the fence, and alone - wouldn't happen to be someone that was anti-social - would it? Everyone else is gathered together in the foreground and then there's ?

Murphy was an optimist! (at times) I need to see about possibly getting a refund. Just got my second refund for Express mail not being delivered on time, relating to my work fmla case.
And no, I don't get any employee discounts on mail I send out, either. However, if you use Click and Ship on a computer, you'll see two options, Enhanced and standard. Choose Enhanced, and you get commercial rates for what you send, there is a discount that way.

Well, Nippi finally arrived here yesterday after first being shipped by Laura on September 24. Due to the causal series of postal delays, the result is that the lens arrived at the end of my vacation weeks, with a forecast of rain for the entire upcoming weekend, followed by the notoriously worst month of the year for weather in this part of the world, when the days are too short to allow after-work shooting. It appears that God is on vacation and has been temporarily replaced by an imp named Murphy!
While I await a break in the bad weather, here are a few photos of Nippi on the camera where the lens will spend most of November (with the possible exception of some time on the X-T2 for some IR activity, if the sun shows up on a weekend ). These images were shot with the 55 f/2.8 Ai-s on my wonderful D800E....Show more →
Thanks Samy. I had the assistance in Dayton and Chicago on the way there, just for some reason Aer Lingus didn't follow through. Chicago had a screen on the chair with my name on it so I'd know where to plop my tush...
Otherwise, I'm totally spoiled by my flights on Aer Lingus....

Oh, and my surgery has now been scheduled, 12 Feb 25. Not that far away. Voice mail popped up when I turned my cell phone service back on telling me that they had a date that they could coordinate the spine surgeon and the vascular surgeon....
Vascular surgeon moves things aside for the spine surgeon to get at the spine from the front. After closing up front, they flip me over and go in through the back for more work.
Good to hear you have a date Laura, hope all goes well.
I 2nd the suggestion that Kevin gets another shot at Nippi providing it suits the schedule and routing if Glen is in agreement (and Rafael of course). We're in no rush are we?
Another shot from Haast Pass. The bridge carries the road, the campsite is just after the bridge to the left of shot. The Haast River is typical shallow glacial flow, clear with the nice aquamarine tint. I walked along it's edge in my neoprene waders and turned up the 2nd creek rather than bush bash to get to the spectacular waterfall I posted recently.

Hi Mary, yes, that is Lumi. She's 10 years old now, and a bit white around the nose, but still healthy and agile.
The rest of us are not doing too bad either. Anouk is already in her 2nd year of elementary school
Wow, I believe I remember your photos when Anouk was a baby, cant' believe time flies that quick. And good to see her learning photography with a Nikon!

Two first rate lenses my friend.
Thanks Curtis. I think I'll go and check out the name on the headstone. That may tell me a little more about the mystery.

Three months minimum out of work.
I wish you well on the surgery. I know major surgery is no fun.
Time flies indeed. My mind is already in December given all the stuff that will happen in the next few days

At first I read it that way too. I had to reread to confirm Jim doesn't eat pet food
