Sorry, I have LOTS of files to process and have just been to Greenpoint Boat Graveyard yesterday to shoot more and shooting local waterfalls/creeks tomorrow. It's my last day off so I promise to get something up.
Off to Melbourne next week for my eldest's 30th too. God I feel old !
Ok, the big D decided to smack me upside the head, and I've finally admitted to myself that I have it.
I've done nothing but eat sleep work since the pandemic, and just when I thought I would finally stop working 50+ hours a week, one of the crew bid to another station, so I was still working close to 60 hours a week. I still haven't worked on my Bosque del Apache photos from February
Back's been bothering me a lot, having to walk with a cane didn't help with the big D. Work won't let me use the cane, so I'm staggering around clutching equipment here and there.
Back isn't going to be getting better on its own, discs are unstable, and wander from time to time. I've decided, even without a second opinion from another doc, that I'm going to have to have the fusion surgery done. It also involves rods, screws, and cages to stabilize the spine so that the nerve bundle will have room, and the numbness, tingling, and pain might be resolved.
The one bid at work was up on the last bid cycle, now we wait to see who got it, hopefully someone who works, and shows up for work.
Enough of the pity party for me.
Where's Curtis? Not like him to miss the thread anniversary.
Glad you have a plan for recovery. My mother had two back surgeries to fuse disks…lower back had 4, neck and where it joins the shoulder area, also 4. Although she can’t turn her head very far, it did a lot of good for her.

Thought I would give you an update on my XT5 saga. I received it from B&H in 4 different shipments. But once it got here, I honestly wasn’t impressed with how it felt. Maybe I have been with the XT2 and XE1 for so long that I’m used to the magnesium frame and the sturdy feel of the bodies. The XT5 I got felt very light and, even though I know it’s aluminum, it felt plasticy. I took it out and put it through its paces around the house and on picture #3, it just stopped working. Tried both batteries and troubleshooting I found online…nothing. The two shots weren’t even recoverable. The card was completely corrupted. I put the card into my XT2, formatted it, worked just fine. So, I’m going to return it. I’m not sure what I’m going to do next.
One of my cats I rescued from the animal shelter in 2007 when she was one year old. A tiny black cat I named Ciara. In December of 2022 I brought her to the vet, because of rapid weight loss. He confirmed what I suspected that she had renal failure. He thought she had about two weeks to live. I decided to just make her comfortable until her health made life unpleasant for her. Every morning she sat on my lap watching intently the news (she loved PBS Nature shows), while I ate my toast drinking coffee - purring the entire time. Somehow she escaped the house 3 times in the last 20 months, but she yowled at the door to get back in. I think they were practice runs. August 20th of this year was the same as all the others. Watch news purring on my lap with breakfast & some kitty treats. By lunch I noticed she was nowhere to be found. I looked everywhere inside and out - no sign of her. Apparently that was her good-bye before she sneaked out to lay down for the last time. The cat pecking order has been reshuffled since the 2-3 pound 18 year old queen went missing.

So sorry for all your health issues. You have made the right decision to admitting you have a problem, now please get the help you need to deal with it.
FWIW...Curtis is fine, just facetimed with him a few weeks ago.

So sorry to hear about your health issues Laura, hope you are doing better. I know nothing about backs but lots about the Big D (assuming we're talking about Depression right ?). Hey at least it's not the Big C right ?
Sorry for your loss Jim, my youngest and his wife just lost their rescue cat suddenly aged 12.
Kevin, sorry to hear about the demise of the XT5, and that it didn't feel a good build quality, that sucks. Presumably lighter is better for your health issues though right?
Here's a pic while I'm here. I too have lots of images to process, I have no excuse as I don't work anywhere near 50 hrs a week never mind 60 !
