I love to go to the street market in Brazil, where there are many varieties of vegetables and fruits.
You can also enjoy a sugar cane drink. 24mm f2.8

Regina, Love the market photos from your accidental Brazil sabbatical. Bottom drink in column one "Cgju" - how do you pronoun that?

Thanks, Jim. Caju (Ka-ju) (cashew, from where they extract the nuts). They mix the sugar cane juice with the Cajun juice. I prefer it without any other flavor. I would love to be here if I could go out and enjoy the city. It's hard to be inside the house all the time. On the bright side, I am having plenty of help here.

Here's one last photo taken with Nippi on the S2. This post-processing isn't my normal style and I know that it is a little over the top, but I kind of like it.

Looks pristine! Does the finder-illumination button work properly now? That little red square of plastic is a real design flaw in an otherwise amazing body!

The story on this F3 is nothing less then amazing too.

It was bought new in 1988 by my father in law. He never got decent exposures with it, but wrote that off as his inability to handle the camera. After a few rolls of film, he put it back in it's box and stored it. Until 2015, when he gave the camera to me.

I also shot a few rolls of film, and quickly noticed something was off. I found out that the aperture indexing ring on the bayonet was sticky. It did not move freely, which became more of a problem with a lens mounted.

First I sent the camera to Nikon. They returned it, informing me that they could find nothing wrong.

I then got in touch with an English gentleman who was a Nikon repair technician in the 1980's and 1990's. He immediately informed me the bayonet itself was most likely off spec, causing the problem. He had encountered a very limited amount of Nikon F3's with that issue. He also still repaired cameras and even had a spare bayonet for me.

Life happened and I lost contact to Jools. Last month I joined a Nikon F3 facebook group, trying to find another qualified technician to fix the F3 and found someone in Bulgaria. I sent him the camera and a new bayonet was fitted. We also agreed to do a full CLA, replacing all polarizers to get better clarity on the LCD screens. He did an amazing job.

We decided to leave the lightseals as they were still pretty much as new.

I did replace the DE-3 finder for a DE-2 finder. It's slightly shorter and I kind of prefer it over the high eyepoint finder. Today I received the MD-4 (with the camera body cap in the hidden compartment, so now I have a spare of those)

The viewfinder light always worked fine on this camera as it has hardly been used. I think it has less then 10 rolls of film on it still. I did load film in it and do intend to use it more in the future though, much to the delight of my father in law

Great story: Nice to have the total provenance of the camera, and the fact that it sat in a box all those years accounts for it being so pristine (AND for the little red button still working: The design has a microscopic spring-clip contact that is quite exposed to dust via the flimsy button, and just develops a poor contact).

I too find the DE-2 somewhat preferable to the DE-3 (or DE-4 in my case, since I have an F3/T "Champagne"). I actually really love my DA-2 "Action Finder" as well, but that is NOT a small or lightweight finder.

Every time I see a F3 I get nostalgic. Probably my be biggest mistake in my photography hobby was getting rid of mine. Yours looks brand new. Glad you were able to get it fixed.

Caju or Kaju is the term for cashews in the Indian subcontinent. Now I wonder which is the original name, cashews or Kaju?

Enjoying the photos coming from Brazil!

That is a great story and definitely quite a heirloom in the family Buddy! Hope to see some images from it here.

Is that a 200 or 300 on the F3?

Enjoying the Nikki shots Matt, looking forward to getting my hands on it/her. Maybe a special trip in order.

Here are a few more classic bikes, or rather details.

One thing that struck me was how complicated it must have been to ride these early machines. As you may recall I'm a motorcyclist myself but the additional levers etc look most confusing, I'm not even sure what half of them are for !

My main computer at home is a MacBook Pro with 27" external monitor. But when I travel it is the iPad Pro (M2). Reason I use that is weight/size, the ability to wireless tether in the field and as mentioned use it as my really big viewfinder

It handles 100MP raw images with no problem.

So does my I9 RTX4080 HP windows laptop with two 32"4K monitors.! (taking a shot over the bow of Apple )

I have noticed in recent years that the images seem sharper on this thread and I wonder if people are experiencing the same thing I have. My old Nikkors got much sharper once I got mirrorless and started using focus peaking. It seems so much easier to focus and bring out the quality of some of these older lenses. Are most you guys using that technology these days or is it mostly my own private epiphany?

Robert, for me the peaking highlights and one button magnification of the sensor image made my images much sharper. I have an 800mm 5.6 that was useless to me, until the Z6 came along and made 90% of my 800m shots sharp. All I have to do is get the bird's eye to turn red with the focusing highlight and - presto! shot in focus.
