Noticed some pink Forget-Me-Nots a couple days ago, along with some other tiny yellow flowers. Good thing I'm ready for itty-bitty things. D850 with the EL-Nikkor 63mm f2.8 (Between 3-16 photo focus stacks)

I took Nippi for a drive Sunday evening and came across this scene. I shot this at f/11, but found that if you shoot wide open you get a nice glow to everything. I'll have to experiment with that once I find the right subject.
For the last few years I have toyed with the idea of ditching the day job and entering retirement mode.
After much deliberation I finally did it. I handed in my notice a month ago.
This Friday, 10th May, will be my last day of employment and end 40 years of corporate life. Yipeee!
The list of home and garden projects is very long but still leaves lots of scope for local travel, foreign travel and of course photography.

Congratulations, Colin. It must be a great feeling to leave on your own terms. I foresee lots of great after dark pictures in this thread's future.

I worry that WYSIWYG may not be a good approach in my photo editing. My eyes have gone bad and bounced mostly back - I'm editing on a TV, and my esthetic standards have changed a bit. I came across a raw file of a Chive Blossom I did three years ago (pre eyes, TV, etc), and decided to edit it afresh - then look up the 2021 edit to compare to the 2024 edit. Now I am confused, because I like both for the same reasons. I like the flatter contrast of 2021, more noise, and less sharpness. I also like the slightly more contrast pop, lack of noise, and better sharpness of 2024. My standard esthetic direction is the 2024 image. Can you see the difference? Is it as described, or do you have an opinion one way or the other? D800 w-Nikkor 105mm f4.0 ais micro 1.4aTC and an extension tube

Given a choice between the two, I'll take the 2021 version, James. My issues with the 2024 one besides looking overly sharp for my taste are the tell tale Topaz sharpening/denoise artefacts, e.g. the edges of petals and the out of focus (blue) flowers looking ghosted. I have a love/hate relationship with the product. The 2021 in comparison seems a more true representation of the subject.
