I picked up a used Z5 to see if I can rejuvenate my photo-mojo. It has been a very long time since I had a Nikon digital body, so we'll see how it goes. Body should be here by Friday, right in time for my San Diego trip. If it makes it on time, I will bring Nippi and a few of my other MF lenses and put the camera through its paces. Where we are staying is right on a beach within sight of the aircraft carrier thats moored there. If there is enough room in the car, I will pack my tripod and bring a long lens or two. Since I have lost so much weight, I am hoping I can carry my camera bag easier...time will tell. ...Show more →
Hi Kevin - let's hope you get your mojo back. I love my Z5 which is such a capable camera. Although I mostly shoot AF these days (aging eyes) it handles the MF glass very well. Take a bit of time with the manual on focus peaking. Take care.

My eyes are getting tired too. I use focus peaking with my Fuji’s, so I’m glad it’s available with the Z5. Do you have any tips on using it with manual glass? Any setup suggestions? The settings are similar to past Nikons, but different from Fuji. I wish I had a program that would take my Fuji settings and translate them into Nikon.
When are you leaving? I have a loaner for you if you want it.
One from the 180 ED to start the weekend.

I haven’t shot with my manual glass in a long time. I start pulling lenses out for my trip and I can’t find either my 35/2 or my 24/2.8. I don’t use the 35 often, but my 24 is my go to wide angle. I have no idea where either of them are!! So 55/1.2, 80-200/4.5, 300/2.8 and my Exacta mount Zeiss 58/2 (my second favorite vintage lens) are it. I’m hopeful for enough room in the car for my tripod so I can use the 300 more effectively.
I’m very surprised on the size of the Z5. Body to body, it’s nearly the same size as my Fuji XT2 with grip. ...Show more →
I've been pretty busy with work this week and not posting; but this place has been keeping up the pace rather nicely! For today's contribution, I have a few more photos from the Canadian Prairies in 2017, courtesy of the Fuji X-E2 that was my first mirrorless camera, purchased from the B&S forum here on FM. As I mentioned previously, I used only MFNG on this cross-country trip, but I don't know which ones as they all show as 24mm in the exif data. I'm waiting for some decent spring weather to coincide with a weekend or a day off so I can get some 2024 photos. In the meantime, I'll keep working through what are, as far as I can tell, previously unprocessed images from our move from Ontario to BC.

So, I confirmed yesterday morning. Lens has lousy corners. I can now justify another purchase to a search for better corners. For the odd ocassion where I ignore the subject matter and look at the corners instead.
A little bit of a breeze on this one but why not. This little colour may be really gone by next weekend.
