Serge - Wow! The lion looks like it is thinking of having David or Jupiter as a snack.

Ray, excellent panos.
Medici marble lions, there are two which were acquired as ornaments to their villa. They were moved to the current location at Loggia dei Lanzi in1789. The one pictured was completed in1598, the second dates to the second century.

Frosty Whiskers. A heavy frost last night coated everything including this white pine branch. Taken with the 55 f3.5 Ai'd handheld. Thanks for looking.

I friend had a business meeting at Atlanta Motor Speedway yesterday, so I rode with him. The exif is wrong on these. They were both taken with the 135/2.8 Q.C.
There was a group of professional stunt car drivers practicing so a grabbed a couple of shots. Most were taken with AF lenses. This is the only one I took with a MF lens. Z62_2522-print by Scott Poupard

You had me thinking this first was a print from a bygone era - until I saw the Hyundai shipping container.

Your instincts are good, Colin! DXO PhotoLab has a companion app called Filmpack 7, which has a very interesting feature called "Time Machine" that shows examples of, and can apply, different film simulations from the various eras of film photography (mostly divided into decades). The one I applied to this image was called "Niepce" from 1827.

what's with the wooden nickel? is it at the border of USA/Canada?
It was an ode to Canadian nickel mining that was erected in 1951 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the year nickel was isolated as an element and given its name. Sudbury is a fair distance away from the US border.
For today's image post I have one final photo from the top of Mount Benson with the D800E and 20 f/2.8 Ai-s, along with two photos from the 2017 sand sculpture exhibition at Parksville beach from the D800E and the 105 f/2.5 P.

Thanks Colin, & Glen. The copy on this camera looks brand new, and was near the end of it's production run with a late serial number. However, it doesn't look to be converted to ai - so the film body will likely be the only camera body I can use it. Boy, had some sticker shock looking at film bodies. Back around 2003-2005 when I sold most of my film gear - you could hardly get anything for the vintage/analog cameras. Just thought it would be fun to go old school for a few frames. Though I have enlargers, trays, ancient chemistry etc - I intend to just soup the film, and scan the negatives. The unmixed chemistry is decades out of date, and it could all turn out to be a big nothing. However, I'm game to try.

Good to see you Huss. Love the motion in this one.
Thanks Leighton! I have a bunch of other recently shot on Nikon film cameras, but w Zeiss and Voigtlander glass so those have to go in different threads!
Kevin,
What a generous offer - thank you. It seems the old Nikon film cameras - particularly the mechanical ones - have appreciated quite a bit over the last 20 years. I found a black FM body that according to the camera store everything works except the meter. Oddly, some bodies with lenses were less expensive than body only sales? I don't need a meter, because I have an old Gossen Pilot Studio Light Meter. It should be here in a few days, and it is like waiting for a cereal box offer to arrive. I'm excited.

There's another great waterfall in this view that I would love to fly the drone to but the 2 DOC vehicles in the car park and the No Drone signs warning of up to $800 fines put me off !
Back in August I was telling Barb about dishes my mom made well, and a cake she made for my father's birthday each year. "German Chocolate Cake" - "German" in this case, was a brand or style - not a reference to the nation, but it was her variation. None of the traditional caramel and coconut icing - instead she used a whipped cream and milk chocolate super fluffy & light icing. It was delicious. So, wouldn't you know - Barb made the very cake from a verbal description. It honestly not only looked better, but tasted better. Yum
I didn't share the cake (I don't think I did), but I did share the Tomato & Onion Ligurian Focaccia that she made the same day. It makes an appearance in the periphery. D800 with the Nikkor 24mm f2.8 ais.

Jim, Barb just has the "gift" for cooking. Such persons just seem to know how much and what to use and sometimes don't even
measure exact amounts! Queens of the Kitchen! BTW, will she make enough cake for all of us? Just asking for some friends!
I have been told that the cake wasn't finished in these photos. The sides only have their crumb coat, and she thinks the frosting color is too gray.
