Very nice, Leighton! Is that PhotoRaw that you used? If so, which version and what do you think of it? I have found it a bit hard to get used to compared to Lightroom, Photoshop, or DxO PhotoLab.
Keeping with the photos-of-warmth-to-distract-from-the-cold theme, here are a few shots of the sides of cars at the 2023 Hot August Nights show in Comox, all of which were taken with the 24 f/2.8 NC mounted on the Fuji X-T4 with the Lens Turbo II.

The wind was bad here along with the rain. A little leak in the roof which will need the roofers to come back. There's a bucket in place since the next rain is just around the corner, tomorrow evening I think. Other than that my laptop charger cable died in the 1 second that power went off and came back on.
Some of the favourite waterfront spots for photo ops got badly flooded - Baltimore Inner Harbour, Fells Point and Annapolis. The Annapolis Dock Street area looks particularly bad in photos I see online, I think some of those businesses have extensive damage.
George, glad your power is back, you seem to have the right provisions in place for such events - internet and coffee! ...Show more →
Hi Samy - I hope you dry and warm.
One day people will look back and believe that global warming and climate change was not an invention of scaremongers.

Time for a Df picture. I've been cheating with mirrorless so much lately, it's starting to have more use cases besides "this also takes pictures".
This one was very interesting because at 6am (Z images thread) it was fully open, but by 6pm it was curled up and ready for sleep. Even though I was looking for something other than a flower(New Year res), the force was strong.

Hey Glen. It's the Photoraw 2024 version. It is taking some time learning, but so far, I like all that it can do. I was using and loved Luminar Neo. But it developed a glitch in it that I can't seem to get rid of. When I do a global adjustment, the moment I start to move any slider, the image blurs a little and it makes it hard to see your adjustment. Once you let go, it becomes sharp again. Very frustrating, thus the reason to try something else. I loved LR, but I didn't want to go back to a subscription model. If you have the time at some point, could/would you download the free trial of Luminar Neo and see if it does the same thing to you? I would appreciate it.
I just had my roof totally replaced, 17 boards needed replaced. I'd just had it done in 2012, too, seems that contractor cut a lot of corners and left rotting boards in place. I'd had this contractor out for a quote then, and thought he was too high for the work then... nope. $8k down the drain on the first one. Soffits, gutters, and roof done this time and a small fortune spent. No going after the old contractor, he died a couple years ago.

Thanks Leighton. That looks very steep! I don't climb ladders, leave alone getting on the roof and attempting to fix anything
I can still see the drip stains on the ceiling. The roof was supposed to have some extensive warranty and is only a couple years old. Let's see how much the company argues.
Friend of mine decided to climb up on his roof and fix something, had another friend below.. ladder slipped away. Bad thing is his house is in an area where cell service was spotty on the carrier he was on, had to drive a mile away to get service. They managed to get the ladder back and he came down safely. Said nope to another time if he had to do it again. He changed cell phone carriers after that too, when I showed him that my carrier worked all over his house and yard by taking his phone and calling my phone from the spot he got service. Had him walk all over his property to make sure. He lives alone, so having service in his house is important.

I may have to do a self imposed ban on myself. When I worked for the power company YEARS ago, I climbed tall structures all the time. Now, I'm not at all comfortable doing so.

Bummer about your roof. when I worked at the power company YEARS ago, they drilled safety in heads every day. There was NO way my ladder was moving. Having said that, I still would rather not have to do it, but I HATE calling someone to do work I have the skills to do.
Understood. I hate doing that too, but now I weigh potential medical costs against money spent on contractor... and safety always. I'm in PT now for knee, back, and balance issues. I didn't realize how bad my balance was until they had me try a few things and I couldn't do them.

I have not had much urge to pick up a camera over the last few months.
My Lightroom catalogue shows that I always have a major photo-slump around this time of the year. The dreadful UK weather of late has not helped either.
I need to cycle back through recent pages because I have not given them the attention they deserve.
A new first for me this week was to sell a couple of my MF items. Sad to see them go but they were not being used.
Out went a boxed, mint 300/4.5 (non-ED) and accompanying TC-301 to trigger extra discounts on selected Z lens purchases.
With Nikon UK winter discounts + retailer discounts + special part-ex discount + the trade-in value itself the offer was too good to pass up – that’s what I told my wife 😊
We are away on vacation soon so hopefully the change of scenery will get the photography juices flowing again.
The kit needs to be compact and lightweight therefore only my Z6ii, 28/2.8 Z, 100/2.8 E-series, and go-to 50/2 HC are coming slopeside.
