I put up one post with the 400 5.6 K samples and now people are already pushing the 300 4.5 K And worst of all it is almost working, was checking out some options early this morning. Sheesh what a thread.
Rafael, indeed, the 300 H is best described as usable. I tried it and there's very limited resolution. I think Nikon got that telephoto formula right after that lens.
I would have long ago gone for the 50-300 if I did event photography. Your examples with that lens are some of the best event photos I have seen.
The last edition 400 5.6 ED AIS lens maybe not quite as sharp, but its lightweight has made it my go to walk-around birding lens over the past decade or so.

Here are my 300mm lenses, the H is usable, the 50-300 4.5 ED and the 300 4.5 EDIF are excellent and perform similarly. The 300mm 4.5 ED K is the best for sure. One of the few lenses I had to buy in less than pristine condition because they are so hard to find, glass is perfect though.
Back when I did video for a local drama club the 50-300 was my go to lens on a Tilta video rig. It is just an outstanding and versatile lens. When supported that is
Just remember to turn off IBIS if using on the new mirrorless cameras

Had my eye on a nice looking 400mm 5.6 K on ebay. Went back this morning to look again and it was sold.

Early morning walk around Burke Lake in northern Virginia with Nikkor 50-135/3.5 AIS lens and D850.
Love those colours just south of here! In my couple of walks the past week or so, its much more muted around here. Maybe the cold predicted for next week will get those leaves going.

Beautiful set Steve and thanks for sharing. I spent many a day fishing this lake when I was a teen.
Thank you so much Leighton! I live not too far from this park so I go for morning and afternoon walks whenever I can. Here, the fall foliage is peaking this week and the color is very vibrant this year.

Thank you @saph. Maybe it will be peaking next week or so in Maryland. We had some good rain this past spring/summer and I feel like the color is very beautiful this year.

More really nice ones. A lot of fond memories there for me.
Speaking of Fall colors with the 50-135mm like Steve shared, We went for a drive around the block this morning and I found a few with my 50-135mm as well.

Fall in the city.
Not as abundant as in the US but still.
All with the Leighton lens. It seems there's something wrong with the chip.
Thanks Chris.
Those trees in the first image are awesome. Wonder how they trained them to grow that way.
