V1 + FT1 + Zoom-Nikkor 80-200mm f/4 ai-s + tripod, ISO 200, f/4 or f/5.6 and zoomed at ~150-200mm, 1/320s, 48% cropped (4.8/10Mp).
This zoom becomes a 216-540mm f/4 with the 2.7x crop factor of the V1 body.
V1 + FT1 + Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6E @500mm@ + tripod, loose head,VR on.
ISO 200, wide open at 1/500s. 75% cropped (7.5/10Mp). < 4m of distance. Efectively a 1350mm equivalent to FX format.

Today I drove three hours to visit the Carizzo National Monument in Central CA, mainly to take film pics. I had packed a Fuji GW690III and a Lubitel (!) 166 Olympic model. The Lubitel I just picked up for a song and was running a test roll through it. The Fuji has been a workhorse.
After exploring countless trails, I went to reload my Fuji only to find the film had fat rolled. This means it rolled loosely and so would be damaged by light leaks the moment I took it out. This had only happened once before, a long time ago and since then I had been very careful loading it. Guess that didn't matter today.
So, film lemons.
But, I had also brought my D750 and 24mm AIS 2.8 as a back up, and to take random snaps. I photo merged 4 verticals (first time I've ever done this) in LR to make this:

In the chase to 6k may I offer a couple of 55mm micro shots.
Snake's Head Fritillary. We have experienced some nice warm weather in the UK so the garden has just exploded with spring flowers.

Ric, I’ve really enjoyed your recent shots along Hwy 395 in Calif. It’s one of my favorite stretches of open road in the western U.S. Interesting scenery, interesting geology, interesting hiking, interesting history—it’s got it all. I try to make an annual pilgrimage down 395 every year, life circumstances permitting. Unfortunately I’ve never had MF Nikkors with me on those trips. Yes, I know. It sounds like sacrilege when I admit that in this thread.
Thank you Ken, I agree, it is a fascinating area that his hard, if not impossible to capture it's true nature with photos.
I drive that 2-3 times a year. Every Superbowl weekend we have an office ski trip. I go a day early with the goal to seeing or exploring something different each time.
