We found a new source for bird food that seems to be quite a hit. I stopped feeding finches a few years ago due to the feeders always getting contaminated with mildew and/or mold and I was afraid that I may be causing them harm. I found a new brilliant feeder design that should prevent this from occurring again, and the finches are back. Mostly Chickadees, but lots of small female gold finches have also found the new feeder. There is constant activity now by many species. I know the next step will be the arrival of the predator birds, but I don't see anyway around that eventuality. According to google Chickadees are among the smartest birds, and are not far from corvids. Like Cedar Wax-wings they are cat-like, and love to perform arial feats.

Just to slip a bit of variety in among all these bird shots (I'm looking at you, Ray!), here is my final set of IR car photos from the Duncan show, all brought to you by the 24 f/2.8 NC. I figured I should squeeze one faux colour IR image in at the end for posterity.

DDG 1000 left San Diego today for the Huntington Ingalls shipyard in Pascagoula Mississippi.
The guns will be removed and she will be fitted with Conventional Prompt Strike large missile launchers, like the subs, she will be able to launch hypersonic missiles. It will be years before we see her in San Diego again. She will be placed on land for this work. Those photos will be interesting.
These are photos of her departure today. Most are small crops resized, the 50-300mm ED ais did wonders with sharpness on the Z7.
Steve, good to hear that your eyesight is recovering.
Rafael, that is an awesome boat or as you say, target.
Last Sunday from the East River water taxi, great weather for a change. The chief of the boat had a lead foot and was having a difficult time standing taking these.
The very cool Williamsburg Bridge, ca 1903. Jazz musician Sonny Rollins practiced nearly daily on the bridge during 1959-1961. His 1962 album was titled "Bridge".

As most of you know, we had livestock guardian dogs to protect our sheep when we were in the business. Guardian dogs DO NOT like other animals in their territory. Well, you can tell by this snapshot just how hard she is working. I guess she figured, what's the use, she's chased this doe so many times the last month from the orchard that I guess she has just giving up having never even gotten close to her.
In reality, I don't believe she would hurt the deer. Just bark like crazy until one of us checked it out.

Jim, LIKE does not begin to describe the feeling of seeing these images. IR is something I never really have had or taken the time to explore. I just keep looking back at these images. Lovely!

Mary,
The same thing happened to me less than two years ago. I ended up adding a IR camera near the end of 2021 after trying filters first. In the 1970s we all read about Ansel Adams red, yellow, and orange filters - then his zone printing system to get dark skies. A much more difficult process to IR, but similar, because of B&W films range of seeing color.

Jim, you have taken to IR like a duck to water! I can see how this becomes addictive! Thank you for sharing and keep doing so!
