Here are a few more photos from the sand sculpture exhibition in Parksville (or should I say, "Like, Parksville, man" -- Vancouver Island has a fair bit of hippie in its cultural fabric). There was a twofold focus to the Canada theme of the event: a) environmental, and b) the relationship between First Nations people and European colonists. This set (all from my D800E) highlights the latter focus, but touches on the former. The first sculpture below (from the 105 f/2.5 P) appears to personify a Native Spirit of the environment (still being sculpted); the second and third images (105 f/2.5 P) show two views of a striking sculpture of a woman (Canada herself?) having been created in a mold, of which one side is a First Nations man, and the other is a Royal Canadian / Northwest Mounted Police officer (with trademark Stetson hat). The final sculpture in this set (courtesy of the 28 f/2 N) depicts the historical European-First Nations relationship beautifully, poignantly, and with incredible detail (notice the tall ship at the top right).
Thanks for the likes and comments. Got lots of pages to catch up on. Hamish is keeping me busy, and has put on weight, and is very very active. One of my other indoor cats (Oliver) has adopted him - and follows him everywhere. Hamish went from eating no solid food at all to a ham devouring pig. Goat milk and deli ham - yeah, that makes sense for a feral cat. He has gained 11 ounces since last post.
135mm f2.0 ai - Ollie wanted in on the photoshoot.

don't blame the poor George, he is doing everything he can to look like me...
Is the "liquid" in the glass fake too? Is that wax or resin? Yikes - that's creepy.

Hey Chris! we get some pretty intense summer sun here in CA. I think it actually cleared up in 3 days, but I left it in there for a week to be sure.
I like the 35 1.4 but I might sell it in the future. The 35mm FOV is just weird to my eyes and I'm leaning towards replacing it with a 28 f/2 with the all-metal ring.
P.S. THANKS EVERYONE for the likes!! Hi Leighton!
I don't have a pre-AI 35 f/1.4 simply because the focal length doesn't suit my taste. I too prefer to shoot at 28mm, hence I have four lenses at that focal length. No doubt this adventure is all about our own comfort level when shooting. I'm not much into long lenses and I definitely have my limits when it comes to going wide. I'm pretty much between 20mm and 180mm... that said, I don't plan on selling any lenses...
Edit: Meant to quote Reagan above. But Leighton, you need to come down to the Outer Banks too
Reagan - You need to finalize those plans to the Outer Banks. In a lot of spots it is a literal 300 yard walk from sunrise over the ocean to sunset over the Pamlico sound. We rent one house where you can do both without leaving the cooler full of your beverage of choice on the elevated deck
Here are a few more from my recent trip to Colorado. All were taken with the Fujifilm X-E1 and Nikkor 24mm f/2.8. All were taken in Rocky Mountain National Park except the last one. It was taken from a lake near the town of Estes Park looking back at Long's Peak.
