Back to cameras, your positive response to the S2 made me get all the film cameras out for a portrait. Every Camera and Every meter here works and is accurate, the reason I stuck with Nikon. I have other finders for these, the best finders are the action ones, like having a monitor.
The Z6 is a guest of honor for being so adaptable to MF lenses. There are six 55mm 1.2 in these photos, one is missing so that makes seven, including all versions but the K which I don't like.
I collect lenses, not cameras, these are the cameras I have used since the 1970s, the exception are the S2 and S3,
Never sold an older camera to buy another.
The one most used was the F4, from 1989 to 2007 - hundreds if not thousands of rolls - their condition is a result of being used in cases.
I want to shoot film again, but too lazy to develop.
Awesome collection Rafael! If you get to shooting film with them, I highly recommend getting a Photomic Finder DP-12 for your F2

George, these are mostly cameras I used in the 1970s, 80s,90s, up to 2007 when the D3 turned me digital.
I do have two DP3s-F2SBs, it is all silicon and has the same measurement range as the DP12 - F2AS; the DP12 is ai, the DP-3 is not ai, so one has to do the shimmy to register the lens largest aperture.
Another feast for the eyes! rafaelcasd wrote:

I was waiting for the Z8, hoping for 60MP, did not get it.
As I do not like video and only use manual focus lenses decided to go for a used mint Z7, primary driver is more resolution for my lenses that do not fit the DSLRs, like the mirror up fisheyes.
Also bought a mint S2 on e-bay from a small Texas town, had wanted one badly but never expected to find a mint working one with lens, box and papers; even with a leather case. Also an EP marked one.

Rafael, both your collecting skills and your collections are truly awe-inspiring!

Glen,
Thanks for the praise but it is all about having right lens/sensor/filter combo, low humidity atmospherics and mother nature to provide a view.
It has taken me a while to experiment and gravitate towards only a couple of lenses that are, in my opinion, outstanding in IR.
16/3.5 - super on a crop sensor but since I went to FX IR it doesn't get used much.
50/2 H or HC - my go to lens. Best lens out of my collection for IR. Also easy to stitch panos in LR when I want something a bit wider.
85/1.8 HC - nearly up there with the 50/2 but I don't use it much.
200/4 - very good when you need reach.
I rarely bother with focal lengths in-between anymore because I am usually disappointed with the results from the MF lenses I have.
When I do want to go really wide then the 18-35 ED G zoom is also very good. For the few AF lenses I use in IR I have calibrated and fine-tuned the AF in the D610.
Usually my ISOs are low (bright skies) but I have found that my PP flow - to darken the sky - can benefit from LR's new denoise function. The denoise smooths out the darker elements but also sharpens other areas up.

Thanks for the tips, Colin! I went back to Bald Mountain yesterday, this time with the 85/1.8 HC and the 24/2.8 NC (which did very well on Jose's list, here). I'll post some of those photos when I get around to processing them. The sky was again cloudless and undramatic, but the light was good and I did my best to limit the influence of atmospheric conditions.
In the meantime, here are a few shots from a walk to the end of my street a week ago, taken with the Fuji X-T4 and 28-50 Ai-s.
I picked the 105/2.5 K on the Df for this weekends photography. It was a little easier to use than last weeks 200/4. The 105/2.5 is one of my personal favorites. I have two copies. Powerful lens! I also shot the 135/3.5 K sonnar on the F2 using Porta 160. I havent shot the F2 in like 5 years. Using a 24 shot roll so I should be able to see what I got pretty soon.

Glen,
I used to love the 24/2.8 NC on the D7100 IR but found that the corners were really bad when used on the D610 FX. I am afraid the 18-35 ED blew my copy of the 24/2.8 NC out of the water under controlled/tripod testing. The 24/2.8 NC doesn't get much camera time anymore. The 28/2.8 AI-S does a good job at close to mid distances but less so at infinity.

George, one last comment on the S2: the slow speeds were not working at first from the camera sitting around for who knows for how many of the 73 years since made, this fixed itself with some exercise and the slow speeds appear accurate now as tested side by side with newer F2s.
The helicoid looked pristine from the little you can see inside when it is focused closest and the shutter is open - but it squealed like a pig at the slaughterhouse. Took a chance and applied the tiniest possible amount of my favorite Dow Corning high vacuum grease (not the best lubricant but does not outgas and create haze and is very stable chemically). Applied a tiny bit in four spots at the corners of the box, worked the helicoid all in an out many times to spread the grease and it did the trick - squeal is gone and the helicoid is still easy to turn with the wheel.
I would like to get this camera's old lube cleaned out and replaced with modern lubricants, none of my F, and F2s suffers from sticky low speeds - Do you know who can work on it?
The Case! S2 came with a case but leather does not live for 73 years and those are not Nylon threads. The case protected the S2 well in storage but came apart at the seams! literally.
Coincidentally I had a Nikon SP limited case laying around, just in case an SP limited with the 3.5cm 1.8 stopped by for a visit. I do have the S3 2000 case as well, a lighter color.
All these cases have a weak spot where the front cover flexes at the base, resulting in cracked leather, not sure how usable they really are.
I have not specifically used them for a body CLA but have used Authorized Photo Service in Morton Grove IL for a couple complex lens repairs over the years. Maybe worth a call to them. I would also check with Huss on the thread here. I would bet with his film gear experience he may know someone closer to you in Southern Ca.
BUT if it were mine, I would take a look at this page from Richard Haw first. It shows the tear down to get to the helicoid of the S2. Also note his comments about the lack of lubricant. And how different the helicoid design is over lens helicoids.

Rafael, amazing collection and amazing gear shots. Congrats on the new additions as well.
Glen, love the amazing contrasts of the IR leaves and dark lake.
Very well processed iconic scene Samy. Did you shoot any film on your trip?
Scott, the mansion looks great with your architect's eye on details and perspective.
I am pretty poor at recognizing what is claimed as 3D pop lenses. Not sure if it processing, but the Hassy shot of the waterfalls George appears to my eye to pop out more, specifically the trees from the water in the middle of the shot.
Not sure how I missed the dogs/pups before Ani, but what a great picture of a couple of beautiful dogs.
@rafaelcasd Dean's Camera Repair in Torrance was a Nikon tech for years. I've used him lots of times so give him a call first. He's quite the character and his shop is something else.. Tell him Huss sent you.

If he doesn't want to work on your S2 (not sure why he wouldn't), the go-to Leica RF guy who also works on Nikon rfs is Don Goldberg @ DAG. 608-835-3342 dagcamera.com

Glad to see things pick up again.
Thank you for the tip Huss! will call him, planning to use this S2 a lot once I find an economical/practical way to do film.
Great shot by the way, very creative.
Where do you buy your film and get it developed?
