Since Ben outed me with his Flickr comment I probably should share a few of those photos on this thread... all taken during my walk through Fairfax yesterday with the 105 f/1.8 AI-s... wide open. I converted them with Silver Efex Pro 2.
Went to Marshall's Camera today and he had a whole bunch of MF Glass he just purchased. The 135 F2, 180 F2.8 ED Ai-S and the 85 F1.4. There was a whole bunch of others, some Pre Ai that were cut by someone for AI mounting. Naturally I examined them closely and the last I saw these lenses I believe they were owned by Ray Steel Now I'm only guessing they were Ray's because they wouldn't verify that.
The bad news is that nearly three years have passed since Ray's passing and some of the lenses seemed to have developed small fungus patches inside. All of course had excellent exteriors and smooth function.
They are not for sale but to be used by the shop for their own camera work. The owner said he had sent some to Nikon who would not attempt a cleaning on the one's I mentioned but did clean some of the others. All in all a shame!
Thanks for the likes and the comments on what I posted.
Samy that was the same vantage point and the Fallingwater site proudly states that the Rhododendron bushes are always in full bloom in July .... my luck!
Kristian I've not posted any from this location before. I have posted shots of the Wright House in Lakeland some months ago.
Todays set is the "Big Mac Bridge" that connects the Upper Peninsula and lower Michigan. These shots were inspired by Samy a month or so ago who also was there. As you can see from the first shot the bridge starts well into the water and a stone base there is said to be built to keep out the trolls. (It doesn't work!) The shots are the UP view, on the bridge then the views from under the bridge in Mackinac City. Enjoy

The 105 shooting black and white looks good, nice processing and composition Curtis! Keeping the bike theme going too

I tried so very hard to get his kit. She would want to do stuff, then pull away. We went back and forth like this since Ray passed. I am bummed that they ended up in a camera store.

Marshall's is an old time shop so they did go to a good home. I do all my business there, it's sort of like the old days.
Ken - I was very sorry to hear that story about Ray. If it is his gear, it's sad to think it is getting mouldy and left unused except to the extent that the shop may use it. Vale Ray.
Like George I was struck by the psychedelic pp. That second shot from inside the car reminds me of the 60s or 70s , and a highly saturated film look.
Curtis - I certainly didn't mean to out you, I was just reporting my pleasure on seeing your shots in my Flickr feed. But come to think of it - you're the founder of this thread - so yeah, I'm glad if it reminded you of your obligations. Hell, Leighton even pulled me up for posting nikon shots on Flickr but not here and who am I........what is it you called me..... oh yeah: "johnny come lately".
Samy - loving the Leightonland shots. Leighton's holding an XT 2 with what lloks like the 55 f2.8 (have I got that right) and you're using a Voigtlander with an m mount nikkor (I'm so jealous of that 3.5 btw).......wow this thread has become so eclectic and cosmopolitan that we're way past polymorphous perversity. And Samy, yes, yes, yes, yes, a Voigtlander with an m mount nikkor is definitely lens gendered. I don't really understand the nikon lens/nikon camera argument but I'm guessing they're not thinking Bessa R with vintage nikkor. I'd guess that's the essence of lens gendering, you're in the very belly of the beast.
Philippe - you've cropped the hell out of that shot - I love it. Even though we can hardly see anything, it still works. But I think you might have left just a little bit more on top, just to see the tops of their ears perhaps and a little more of their expressions? Not a lot, just a bit? Anyway, love the letterbox horizontal and the focus on the glass.

I reached out to Melody, been meaning to anyway, she decided to keep his kit. So, what you saw wasn't his.
Wow Kevin, what I saw was another great kit then. A dozen lenses or more with many "desert island" lenses in it. I'm sort of glad they are not his because of the fungus issues. Thanks for checking.
And now a camera that was the pinnacle of Nikon's dabbling in rangefinders - the Nikon SP. This pic is with the 2.8cm f3.5 S Nippon Kogaku (and hence no scope for Ben to talk about lens gendering or polymorphic perverseness).
I see that I'm just in time to provide something from a couple of perverse lenses that gender polymorphically. This is a final set from my Ammonite Falls hike, courtesy of the 85 f/1.8 HC and the 35 f/1.4 N (twice) on the Fuji X-T2.
