Followed them from afar and picked up the pace when I realised they were headed towards the central crossroads where the neon signs lay
Japanese salaryman, I surmise, from what little I could hear them talk to one another

Thanks Jose. I find all the Canon bodies I own easy to focus F mount Nikkors using a simply Nik - Eos chipped focus confirm adapter. Having the body beep is a huge plus for me, and I have wanted this feature in my Nikon bodies as well (which do beep with AF lenses) for a very long time.
Jim
While there is no beep, the trust focus confirm dot in Nikon F bodies for manual focus is a huge help for me, which I sorely miss in the Nikon z bodies. Unless on a tripod, depending on the focus peaking for precise focus can be challenging in some situations.
Only slightly better up north here. Hang in there Leighton it should be warming nicely next week.

Power on and off down here. Back on for the moment

Well this year is going to be a record breaker in Sunny Florida. Tomorrow at 0700 the forecasted temp is 28*F -1C BRRRRR!!
Here is another LBK sunset and a bit more dramatic thanks to the clouds. I sort of like it better. Taken with the Df at 140ISO and the EV to 0. The NOCT is at F8,
I think the contrails are interesting.
Perhaps the Df will wake Curtis and bring him back into the fold. Need a Marin County perspective!
Leighton,
My first house I heated with a genuine Ben Franklin wood stove (Model 26C - I think). When I would lose power I felt safe because of that stove. The four panels of glass gave light - plus it had a grill, you could cook on top of it, warm your hands on the large brass balls, and I could get the whole house toasty warm. Today I really don't have that kind of security. Hope your power comes back asap.

Thanks Colin. Like I say this one wasn't too badly located. This one is from Lake Matheson mirror lake. That was a 10 minute drive then 30 min hike around the lake to the viewpoint in freezing conditions 😳

Bad thing to not have power in the winter. George glad to hear it's on now.
It is blizzard like here today and power was off for hours. Back on now. So much of the country is being impacted by this storm. High winds, snow, and low temps (below zero wind chill). Great day to sit by the fire and read a book.

Power came back. We heated with wood in our last house and this one for a total of 35 years. But, I stopped heating this way last year when we had a new high efficiency heat pump installed. Still have the woodstove, but when it's so windy, the draft doesn't work well so we tough it out until the power comes back. If it wasn't so windy, I would have fired it up.

Not that I'm moving, but I understand why folks move to a warmer climate.
