First picture reminds me, Irohas used to have some of the cleanest Nikons on my eBay until one day they all disappeared. Everything other brand except Nikon. I enquired what happened but they said nothing's changed on their side. I had to move on. I just went there again now after years, still the same. Clearly something did because if I change "Ship to" to US or UK, all the fine Nikons display. It cannot be that they decided Nikons cannot be shipped to SA. Maybe I must engage again. Still some good stuff there.
I had to do a double take on the price of the f/1.1 but then saw the lens has scratches on front and back. That explains it. So definitely not on Rafael's radar

And Raphael probably already has three of these lenses..
George, love that first one, great comp and use of DoF. How’s you fare in Ian, pretty close to the off backside wind, weren’t you? Always an event down here but we fared fine with a bit of surge. Finally getting back to normal, hope to shoot more this fall.

Here are couple of snaps from a walk this evening with the kit above.
Both @ f/2 and no cropping of the MF sensor. Full frame
Thanks Matt. Can't ever go wrong with brick in you first shot.
I can't complain about anything with Ian after seeing FL. Just power outage inconveniences around here and some trees down that were probably close to falling anyway. Glad you were ok at the coast.

I typically shoot in a dark/dim room with the main light source being either natural light through filtered window or LED ring light to one side. I usually shoot with a faster lens but wanted to test the 35PC in this shot. I then shoot a 5 - 7 shot focus stack at a large aperture and combine in Helicon Focus, then import back to Lightroom and process to get the look I am after.
I almost always underexpose (come to the dark side of the histogram) and use masks to adjust exposure where I want (dodge and burn).

George, can you share how you make such beautiful gear portraits?
Went to a forest that has high old growth trees that are in the wind shadow of a ridge just west of it. A blush of salmon, red and yellow color was mixed throughout. 5DS-R with the Nikkor 20mm f2.8 ais and the new HK-14 lens hood. No vignette, or corner clipping occurred.

I'm glad to come back here in the middle of what seems a real shopping spree for old Nikkor lenses. That makes me feel just a little less guilty of buying this one: (Warning for sensitive viewers, gear snapshot coming up)
So when Kristina suggested we take the dogs out for a stroll around the block, I heartedly agreed and the whole family, armed with camera gear, took to the patch of forest behind our house
It is clearly Autumn. All signs show and tell. Sad fact is that so far, I managed to pick up the camera for some recreational photography only 3 times in 2022.
