If I'm not wrong, the D610 should have fixed the problem of oil on the sensor.
You're right, I remember there was a huge public relations disaster when the D600 was released with an oil spatter problem. The 610 was a minor upgrade but helped distinguish it from the deprecated 600.
Shot with the 25-50, color one is close to my memory, there magic light color had faded by then. So I ran it through SilverEFX, is it bad that my favorite variation was the "Wet Rocks" preset with just a little bit of tweaking? Preferences in this corner of the web?

Love these Jay.
At some point these old buildings will get repurposed or demolished.
I'd have checked the mailbox to see if there was mail in there... betting there was

That's a beautiful restoration of that Bus. I used to have a 1979 VW Bus. It was good for short trips around town but trips longer than a couple hundred miles would demagnetize the starter, so you would have to push start it for a couple days till it recovered. Where we lived in SC, was at the top of a hill, so it was pretty easy to push start solo. Other times, I had to get creative, or ask someone to push it.

I rarely pick b&w in the presence of the colour version but in this case, I think the Wet rocks version is better. I like the more even presentation of the foreground rocks in it better than the shadows/light colour version.
Hello everyone and great shots from the last few pages.
Raphael, thank you for the kind offer to house the C8 but I must decline, as to the NOCT !!!!
On the road trip to the UP we stopped at Tequanamon Falls, (I think that is how it is spelled) and after several hours in the car it was time to visits the gents. I asked Robin to hold the Z6 with the NOCT while I went inside. She put the camera strap on her shoulder and waited in the outer area. Out from the ladies burst forth Tammy Tourist obviously in a hurry to get to the Falls that have been there for a million years. She bumped into Robin knocking the camera off her shoulder and in slow motion Robin watched it hit the ground.
Oblivious to her misdeed she went on, not stopping to say sorry... Indeed, had no idea as to what she just did. I approached her and told her that her that her actions just knocked a $2000 camera with a $3000 lens off my wife's shoulder and she said nothing at all.
I surveyed the camera and lens for damage and it was saved by the HS-7 lens hood which took a direct hit bending it in quite a bit. The pics here are the result of using the lens just shortly after the fall. So here they are and you might notice the wild swings in focus and exposure.. It seems that it did not sustain any internal damage are the result of running the gamut of exposure and focus settings. Thankful the hood was there.
One comment to make. I've observed people on vacation that are trying to escape their million mile an hour daily routine only to do a million miles an hour when supposedly relaxing on a trip. Enuf said!!!
Ken,
Perhaps asking to exchange insurance information would drive the point home. Glad you were using a hood - I have a whole bag of cheap metal screw on hoods (plus Nikon brand) I got from ebay just for that reason.

Colin,
It is one of many possible paths I am considering. I really would rather pick up a D850, and send my D800 in for conversion (12,000 clicks this year). For full frame and higher resolution than the 12.8 megapixel 5D - the D610 seems a very good choice - IMO. I am entering my ninth month of IR addiction (partly thanks to you ), and it is with well founded financial fear (thinking of when I went medium format and 4x5 in the analog daze) that I must be carefully, and mindfully proceed. The ability to pick up amazing hardly used digital equipment at great prices was never a possibility before now. If I am right - the D850 used market will hit my mental willing to pay price in less than a year. Then there is always the 7D house brick I made...is it worth a third try?

Jim,
Are you thinking of picking one up to add to your collection?
I have enjoyed using mine.
