Great shots and thank you Colin for the pics of rural Scotland.

I Already told Jay about this on a phone call. Here are two shots of the old and of the new. The C7 Vette was taken in Marquette, Michigan on the day I got the call to tell me that the new C8 Corvette was delivered to my dealer. It was about an 8 month wait but picked it up after Labor Day.

It still has under 500 miles so its "rev limited" to under 3500 RPM. That will soon change as t will be going to Concord NC afer the 1st of the month.

Oh yes! The C8 looks more menacing and I prefer its angular lines.

Rural Scotland does have its fair share of nice auto hardware.
Alas not mine. It looked quite new.

50/2 wide open. Exif is wrong in Flickr - definitely not the 55mm.

Nice moment captured at the jazz festival Serge.

Great angle for the "I Will Vote" thingy, AdaptedLenses.

I definitely love the looks of that C8 Vette, Ken. Congrats!

Huss, did you think up that asteroid caption at home or during the capture?

James, looks like the fall color March is starting to make an appearance! I did some "macro" stuff at 300mm and 420mm the other day. I like it.

Scott, Scott, and Colin, appreciate the words on the 25-50 reflections shot. I almost did not stop as the clouds were not there 15 minutes earlier, but thought I'd wait it out in the car for awhile.

You won't regret getting the 25-50 Scott. For landscape shots, in the MF world, it's a great focal range, and it's pretty decent stopped down. It's a wonderful match for the Z5's 24MP sensor.

A couple more reflection shots from that morning, then onto other themes. Still with the 25-50.

This place has been thriving with great photos lately, I must say. Thanks to all of you who keep this thread so photographically fresh and diverse!

I, too, have been fairly busy with my camera and MFNG lately, and I've realized that I typically have three purposes when I go out with my photo gear. One, of course, is to enjoy this often immersive form of photography. The second is to get some good aerobic exercise. And the third is to do the first two things in a beautiful natural environment. As a result, sometimes the photography takes precedence and the amount of exercise I get is relatively limited (due to the amount of time that passes while I take pictures), and at other times exercise takes precedence and the amount of attention I give to photography is limited, and consists mainly of more hastily taken images. The decisive factors that seem to determine which takes precedence is a combination of the quality of the light, the novelty of the location, how photographically inspired I feel in that environment at that time, and how much energy I have available for the twofold focus of attention.

On the other hand, I have also been learning how to find inspiration in familiar environments (this usually involves slowing down and looking with fresh eyes, and may also involve going to a familiar place at an unfamiliar time of day or in atypical lighting conditions), and how great it feels to get out with my gear and get some exercise, even if my photographic results are relatively limited. I have also been going on more adventurous trips to entirely unfamiliar places, to help with gaining fresh eyes for the familiar places.

On that note, here are a few images from Botanical Beach, south of Port Renfrew on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The beach got its name from the intertidal pools in which anemones, trilobites, crabs, tiny fish, clams and other interesting critters live. Unfortunately, I was unable to find a way to make any of these marine gardens seem particularly photogenic. However these four photos should give some idea of the general environment of Botanical Beach. The first shot was taken with the 16 f/3.5 Ai fisheye, and the next two were shot with the 35 f/1.4 Ai-s, and the fourth photo was taken with the 85 f/1.8 HC.

Love the composition here Huss. Although I always enjoy the colors you bring from SoCal, this is really strong black and white.

Thanks huddy, much appreciated! B&W is a selfish thing for me because as I dev/scan that myself, I can see the results same day. Often I second guess myself when I use B&W film at the beach, on a beautiful sunny day filled with colors! But it is really interesting to see results from it where sometimes I think "hey that worked out ok!".

Of course, if I just used my Z7 there would be no need to worry about color or B&W! I should try that sometime.

One final moody landscape image of Beinn Sgritheall from the waters of Loch Hourn.
I like the fact you can't quite see the peak of the mountain but can interpolate it from the ridges.
Needed boat to add foreground interest but hey-ho.....

Ken,

I hope you can tuck up the C8 in a garage out of the way of that hurricane heading your way.

Lots of great pictures I need to catch up with after being away for a long weekend.

I tell you what, if you ever need rain in your area just invite me for a Sunday hiking trip. That will all but guarantee it will rain

A quick post from Sunday. More waterfalls to hopefully come as I check my memory card.

George

I second your observations Glen, photography immerses me in my environment, that is almost the true purpose for me, not the end photograph per se.

I have Slide film in the S3 millenium and rceived an amadeo adapter for the 50mm 1.4 millenium from camera quest . The S3 is fantastic for people with no glasses with the 100% viewfinder but there is zero eye relief.

The 50mm 1.4 M is a thing of beauty, looks pretty on the amadeo adapter, a thing of beauty as well, highly recommend the adapter. Will post some pics of it.

Here are the first test shots of the 50mm 1.4 Mill. This may be the best 1.2 1.4 lens I own. Old Summilux competition?

I found this article, it is fun and interesting,

Five Photography Products We Want to See Rise From The Dead

https://casualphotophile.com/2017/10/30/five-photography-products-we-wish-would-rise-from-the-dead/

One of the five is the Millennium Nikkor, quoting:

"Our next desired zombie is a product that was actually successfully resurrected in the early 2000s – the Millennium Nikkor-S 50mm f/1.4 made for the Nikon RF system. Bet you didn’t see that one coming.

If reissuing a lens for a system as dead as King Tut sounds insane, well, it is. But reason be damned, Nikon was high off nostalgia in the early 2000s (remember 2001’s FM3a?) and decided to dig deep into their archives to manufacture a tit-for-tat copy of their legendary Nikon S3 Rangefinder. The reissue eventually became the rare and beautifully made Nikon S3 2000. Nikon then set about making a lens for the new camera, and they chose a real beauty; the classic Nikkor-S 50mm f/1.4.

But Nikon wasn’t content with just recreating their old fifty. The new lens, christened the “Millennium” Nikkor-S 50mm f/1.4, actually draws its lineage from the extremely rare “Olympic” 50mm f/1.4, which was manufactured in the early 1960s as an improvement on the original 5cm f/1.4. And just for kicks, Nikon endowed the lens with the modern coatings featured on their fancy-pants AF lenses to truly bring the lens’ performance into the new millennium.

In their nostalgia-fueled wild goose chase, Nikon inadvertently created what some call photography’s greatest ever normal lens. The few who own the Millennium Nikkor fifty consistently place it above the high-flying Leica Summilux 50mm f/1.4, a lens many consider the pinnacle of normal lenses. After seeing plenty of image samples, I’m inclined to agree with them.

The tragedy of the Millennium Nikkor fifty is that due to its rarity and obscure mount, it remains inaccessible to all but the most dedicated photo geeks. What’s more, resurrecting such an esoteric lens in 2017 would be impractical. But there’s a simple solution to this problem (and one I hope somebody from Nikon reads) – reissue the lens in Leica Thread Mount or M-Mount. Nikon made lenses in Leica mounts back in the day with the Nikkor 5cm f/2 and f/1.4, so why not relive the good old days and do the same with the Millennium fifty? It’s a longshot, but a lens as good as this deserves better than to be left for dead."
