We're on our way back to Florida. With regards to today's "historic" meeting in scenic Staunton. First things first.
Curtis, Lakeland is the winter home of the Detroit Tigers. Started "rooting" for the Tigers 25 years ago when we moved there. Also the minor league team the Flying Tigers. I'm with Laura in rooting for anyone playing the Yankees. I am NOT with her regarding the cubs.
Laura we went to the USAF Museum and COULD NOT FIND A PLACE TO PARK. It was that busy so we didn't go!
George sorry you missed the day. By the way we voted unanimously that you'll buy lunch at the next meeting!!!
Leighton .... yes you can say I am interested in that $200 camera. 😍😍😍. When Reagan sells I might bid!! Got to say these old eyes enjoyed the focus peaking! I don't like the 1.5 crop though.
Samy it was a pleasure meeting you and learning more of your keen interest in film cameras.
The hero of the day was Barbara who did most of the work (at least what I saw.) Truly a remarkable woman Leighton!...Show more →
I'll pass it along to Barbara. Oh, by the way, I hate to tell you but your D500 is a cropper too.
Yeah! I finally got my 28/2.8 back from the repair shop today. It had oil on the blades, and they weren’t stopping down.
On the way back home I snapped the following shot of Mt. Hood located about 50 miles southeast of Portland and the highest point in the state. It is the volcano most likely to erupt in Oregon with the last minor eruptive episode in 1907. There are occasional earthquake swarms and active steam vents near the summit.

Earlier in the week I took the second shot of South Sister (of the Three Sisters) about 30 miles west of Bend. It is the second most likely to erupt. Last eruptive episode was a bit over 2,000 years ago. There is a small lake in the crater at the top. It’s a non-technical climb but very steep. I did it twice when I was younger. Sparks Lake in the foreground.

And what camaraderie? Most of the time we were arguing heatedly about focus peaking vs. green dots, as evident in this pic. Of course the venerable green dot won by a 2:1 margin given that Leighton was outnumbered.

Lens gendering Ben you do know we not discriminate lenses by gender on this thread right?
tell that to Reagan. And don't forget Curtis and all that gumph about polymorphous perversity. You need to tutor them in the ways of equality and gender stereotypes.
Samy - it's great to see these pics. And I'm glad to see you took one of my favourites - the 20mm f3.5 UD. Leighton may have been outvoted on the focus peaking - but that doesn't mean he wasn't right.
Leighton - you're looking much better than the last pics I saw of you. Good to see. Keep it up.

Some Nikon love overflowing in the last few pages!
@Leighton,@Samy,@Ken: Great to see you all and the bonds this thread has.
@Ben: Always have been a fan of your work! What is the technique you use for the light play and selective highlighting? Do share unless a secret ofcourse.
